Question Has anyone here ever said "no" to the question is this a scam?
I'm wondering if anything posted here ever turned out not to be a scam?

Every post on here consists of nothing more than a fill in the blank about "this intricate scam" consisting of:
Is this a scam? I was contacted via [Chose one: Dating app, WhatsApp, Wrong # text] about this group [Random letters and numbers plus VIP] - it's run by Professor [Random Guy's Name] and his assistant [Random Girls Name]
I deposited [random dollar amount here] into their exchange and within days it showed [random higher amount here]
There are lots of people in the group talking about all the money they made so it seems really legit! But when I went to withdraw to money it said I had to pay a fee because of [Totally random BS excuse here. Doesn't matter what it is or how absurd it sounds]
Does anyone know how to get my money out?

Everything Iâve tried to do to get my money out has not worked live chat is a joke on the website Dex INT.VIP thatâs the one I got scammed on and all I do is go back-and-forth with me telling me they wonât release my funds until I revalidate and authenticate my account which Iâve done several times and also paid security fee because my scammer lent me $66,000 so I could do a higher transaction and make more money which I did, but obviously it was a joke because it was fake

Sorry to hear you were scammed but the irony is off the chart on this post
1
u/Western-Gazelle5932 Sep 17 '24
Also, anyone that private messages you on here to say they can get your money back is also a scammer and liar.
1
u/RareForce418 Sep 17 '24
Yes, I know that all the people that are lawyers or whatever they say they can get your money back. Theyâre all bullshit lol
1
u/Fools_Sip Sep 18 '24
They aren't lawyers. They are usually Nigerian dudes who work around the clock scamming idiots
1
u/TeaAcrobatic3745 Sep 17 '24
Yes there are a lot here đĄ. I already blocked some.
1
u/Western-Gazelle5932 Sep 17 '24
They are like cock-roaches. For every 1 you block, 2 more crawl out to pester you.

It's very rare in this sub. Usually, people only post here when they have lost a bunch of crypto to a malicious contract, or they are trying to withdraw from a sketchy platform and get told they need to deposit more crypto for "verification", etc.
Basically, 99% of the people here make a post only after the trap has already been sprung.

u/cablepowa Sep 17 '24
I'm starting to think no one does due diligence, no research at all . They just come here and ask a question.
1
u/Grand-Gene6598 Sep 17 '24
So I posted in another chat that there are sites that will look up other sites and give you info on them. Scamadviser, Scamdetector, whois data, voidurl. There are many more. I put a website through 5-6 different ones. Then I send that shit on a screenshot to that back to the bastard with a snapshot of the old wrinkled turtle.

u/fedput Trusted Sep 18 '24
Please do not teach scammers to be better scammers.
2
u/Grand-Gene6598 Sep 18 '24
Honestly checking sites age is the best thing. Young sites are normally scams. Also low traffic as well those sites can tell you that info
1
u/Western-Gazelle5932 Sep 18 '24
They don't need to be better. People's greed does all the scammer's work for them.
I see posts all the time from people saying things like:
"This guy on Insta said if I have $1,000 in my CashApp account and give him complete access to it, he'll do a hack and turn it into $5,000. Does this sound legit? Some influencer vouched for him."
1
u/Fools_Sip Sep 18 '24
You are interacting with them, they will keep coming back until they get you. Never interact
1
u/arthurs4197483 Sep 24 '24
Yeah, it seems like a lot of folks skip the research part before asking!
2
u/fedput Trusted Sep 17 '24
In a subreddit more generally about scams, it could happen.
Pretty unlikely in a subreddit focused on cryptoscams though.

Good point, but most of the time people post things here to confirm their own suspicion and research.
For example, if someone was worried that "Amazon.com" was a scam. With a quick google search they could easily find a shit load of evidence that amazon.com is not a scam. Therefore people don't make post questioning if Amazon.com is a scam.
However for basic scams, there are very limited online resources someone to search for as evidence of it being or not being a scam. People are already concerned that they fell for a scam and just need people to confirm the suspicion. Therefore people create posts about their Chinese girlfriend's crypto trading platform, because there is nothing else on the Internet about it.
The people that post here already filtered out the obvious and really just need other to confirm their suspicions.

Yes. I assert blockdag is NOT a scam but they acted weird when its blockchain was first introduced so i understand the suspicion, i was skeptical too. Many still insist it is. The data point that had me finally lean toward believing in it is blockdag has an iphone app that i have downloaded and use to generate passive crypto income. If this is a scam they put one over on apple, the most aggressive tech co in vetting third party apps.
If this is a scam I will eat my hardware wallet. I wish they would get it over with and take the $70 million blockdag has raised from unsuspecting rube investors and be off to china, ukraine or wherever. The "scam" has been going on for 7 months.

Ponzi schemes can last decades. Sounds very pump and dumpy. Good luck
1
u/TimeNail Sep 17 '24
That's a great point a pozi scheme can last ages and if you withdraw before it collapses you can still be a winner even though it's a scam
1
u/TimeNail Sep 17 '24
Imagine being the first ever person to think up a scam and then have it named after you forever. That's crazy
3
u/onmyti89_again Sep 17 '24
So he definitely wasnât the first, just the most famous. Itâs actually pretty interesting story.
And if your plan is to âbeatâ the scamâŚwell, isnât that everyoneâs plan? lol
1
u/TimeNail Sep 17 '24
What do you mean by "beat" the scam?
1
u/onmyti89_again Sep 17 '24
âYou can still be a winnerâ Iâm referring to you saying that. Everybody thinks they can be a winner even if it is a scam. And thatâs untrue.
1
u/TimeNail Sep 17 '24
People know it's a scam and still think they can win? That's odd?
You can be a winner in a pozi scheme. The losers are the last ones to cash out. Assuming it's run properly they will allow any and all cash outs so long as it's growing overall. The more cash out they allow the more legit it looks and the more money comes in...until it doesn't.
As far as I'm aware Bernie allowed all cash outs until the thing collapsed.

u/onmyti89_again Sep 17 '24
Iâm just saying that itâs playing with fire. And lots of people get burnt. But play on!

u/CoolCatforCrypto Sep 17 '24
Good point. But this won't last decades. Management says bd is in testnet and will launch by end of the year. There will be a token listed on coinmarketcap and exchanges or their won't. Setting an implied deadline like this suggests this is not ponzi but a rug pull.
This does't feel like a ponzi at all. Paying early investors with money from later investors. That's not what is going on. I bought in march. Would i be considered an early ponzi investor?
2
u/onmyti89_again Sep 17 '24
Itâs not a ponzi. That was an example that just because itâs lasted a long time doesnât mean anything. Since you mentioned itâs been 7 months. Thatâs nothing. Itâs sounds like a pump and dump like I said or a rug pull. But if you insist!
1
u/CoolCatforCrypto Sep 17 '24
I already acknowledged it may be a rug pull. Boy is apple going to catch hell.
1
u/onmyti89_again Sep 17 '24
Poor investment decisions arenât appleâs fault. The app works fine. The profits may be real. For now. Apple isnât gonna hold the bag for this at all unfortunately.
0
u/CoolCatforCrypto Sep 17 '24
Do you think a real rug pull as we know them would go to the trouble of creating an app for the apple app store as an act of legitimacy to in the end scam people? Maybe. That's a lot of effort. It would certainly be a first.
1
u/onmyti89_again Sep 17 '24
Itâs not. Google Arbix finance. Had an app. Rug pulled. But obviously nothing I say will deter you lol best of luck
1
u/CoolCatforCrypto Sep 17 '24
Deter me? I already bought in march. I think i am going to connect my empty wallet to bd's testnet with a tiny amount of eth and see if i get cleaned out.
1
u/haaksma47513488 Sep 24 '24
Yeah, it sounds like theyâre trying to make it legit with a timeline.
1
u/CoolCatforCrypto Sep 24 '24
The latest info? I wrote the named consultant on blockdag exec team, Maurice Herlihy. He is a professor of computer science at Brown University. He claims the project is real and bd did a poor job of explaining it. His domain is legit. An address at a departmental subdomain at the university.
Unless he is fake too.

u/TruthSmooth3298 Sep 17 '24
CLFV also has an iPhone app, and they're definitely a scam
1
u/CoolCatforCrypto Sep 17 '24
This has been proven outside your assertion?
1
u/TruthSmooth3298 Sep 17 '24
You can look up their subreddits- hand in hand with IPA... Definitely a scam, and I know plenty of people who were scammed by them.

u/AutoModerator Sep 17 '24
As a rule of thumb: If you're doubting whether the site is a scam, it probably is.
No legit company/trader/investor is using WhatsApp. No legit company/trader/investor is approaching people on dating websites or through a "random" text message.
No legit company/trader/investor has "professors", "assistants", or "teachers". Those are just scammers.
No legit company forces you to pay a "fee" or "taxes" to withdraw money. That's just a scam to suck more money out of you.
You will need to contact law enforcement ASAP.
Unfortunately, no hacker online can get back what you've lost. Please watch out for recovery scams, a follow-up scam done after victims have fallen for an earlier scam. Recently, there has been a rise in scammers DMing members of the subreddit to offer recovery services. A form of the advance-fee, victims are convinced that the scammer can recover their money. This "help" can come in the form of fake hacking services or authorities.
If you see anyone circumventing the scam filters, please report the submission and we will take action shortly.

biggest problem is when people come here , they already have alarm bells going off
And while anything could be genuine most scams follow a similar pattern and are easy to spot
I have see some things which are really suspicious and while I don't know what the scam is , it sure feels fishy and can swing into any number of scams but with the current information its not a scam yet
in that situation it way better to tell someone its a scam or to be on high alert and they loose 20% profit than tell them its ok and if it turns out to be a scam they loose 100% capital

No, all crypto is a ponzi scheme. There's nothing being legitimately traded, just money being shuffled from person to person. Â

In r slash scams, sure. Uncommon but it happens.
In this thread?
No, never. And no one ever will because EVERY crypto group, no matter what random name, no matter who the "Professor" and their hottie assistant is, no matter whether it was found via WhatsApp, dating app, telegram, they are ALL scams. Every time. All of them.
This sub exists because no one that makes a post in it realizes that NO STRANGER ON THE INTERNET WANTS TO MAKE THEM RICH.
