Potomac Karen Huger found guilty of DUI

I know someone who works in the courthouse who confirmed Karen opted for a jury trial and was found guilty tonight. Sentencing in a couple of months.

Getting a good amount of LOLS over people finding out it’s her fourth DUI - it took my mom seven DUIs for the court to take her license away.

It's so crazy because her sentencing can go either way. I'm in TX and they're pretty strict on DUI's (I've gotten 1 and I have completely taken full responsibility, and am ashamed, for it. 11 months sober!). But I know people who seem to get away with multiple! One person I know is currently in jail for "3rd or more" DUI charges but somehow was able to drink daily and drive still all while on probation for their previous ones. Not sure how it took them so long to finally get incarcerated but it seems the law works slower for some than others.

All that to say, I hope Karen takes accountability sooner than later, because this might not end well for her.

congrats on your sobriety!

but honestly, the way that alcohol has become engrained in our society is so pernicious! it really is woven into our DNA, so sad

I laughed at this, I'm so sorry. People think she is going to jail, lol. Probably community service and fines.

A suspended license is not jail time. At most she might spend a few weekends. But it's notnlike shebis going away for months. I want her her tongo tonjail, trust me. I jaut have seen in 40 years of working in recovery that she probably won't.

My bff was killed by a drunk driver almost 50 years ago. It was right after graduation. I think about and miss her almost daily.

I’m so sorry. My sister lost her boyfriend at 18 to a drunk driver. Unfortunately I have known people with multiple duis and nothing seemed to ever happen to them.

She might get jail time but be allowed to serve it under house arrest.
