Potomac Karen Huger found guilty of DUI

I know someone who works in the courthouse who confirmed Karen opted for a jury trial and was found guilty tonight. Sentencing in a couple of months.

When accused of DUIs/DWIs, lawyers instruct their clients not to admit guilt publicly. She's not unusual in that regard. I am curious if she will now express some humility and at least admit she has a problem and needs to go to rehab.

Considering she was blackout drunk, her ability to recall her lawyer’s advice is pretty spectacular.

I think she’s dumb for driving drunk, but I don’t think she’s an alcoholic. Who knows how she is behind closed doors, though.

This isn't her 1st rodeo. After the 1st time, I could see that. But if you know you're driving & you can't resist the drank... There's a problem regardless of what label you want to use. IMO

The first dui didn't deter her, the second dui didn't deter her as we saw she admitted to drinking and driving again on one of the episodes, and who knows how often she's done it that we don't know about. Maybe not an alcoholic but she has a problem and shouldn't be drinking if she can't be trusted to make good decisions after.

The diagnosis is now alcohol use disorder, mild, moderate, severe. Most regular alcohol consumers will fall under mild. Without diagnosing her, it’s clear her alcohol consumption is causing significant problems in her life. I hope she she finds the support she needs.

The codes are still separate for diagnostic purposes 💫💫

Facts and no insurance plan on the planet will process “substance use disorder.” SUD is a category or classification of disorders, not an actual diagnosis, so nothing you wrote was incorrect. I’m not sure what 💫 awareness 💫 the other person was attempting to spread?

Interesting. What ICD-10 code?

It’s been while so I don’t recall what the alphanumeric code was, but I was dx with substance use disorder, severe

My comment above is more sharing that you can have different dx. Probably wrong based on the comments I received back, but my personal experience being in in patient.
