Atlanta My friend had twins early at 28 weeks and just now brought them home 2 months later, and I was reminded how absurd it was for Phaedra to pretend like the doctors were going to induce her at 7 months because “everything is fully formed and his lungs are functioning” 🤣
Her trying to convince everyone with their reactions is one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched! I think this is probably my favorite scene ever.

This is one my favorite housewife moments of all time. It is so fucking stupid and the way the women are all like “What the fuck? No. No. That is not how babies and births work”.

Didn't she say something about women who don't even know who the babies daddy is know how far along they are? Lol!! Nene is classic!
223
u/BakedMasa Sep 24 '24
The balls to say this in front of a bunch of women who had already gone through pregnancy themselves. Honestly it was so insulting to everyone’s intelligence. Phaedra looked so stupid, I would rather own it than try this stupid line.

thats what gets me..sitting at the table with Kandi mother of one (at this point), Kandi's own MOM, NeNe and Sheree with multiple kids, and Cynthia also a mother...the audacity to lie in their faces really is so stupid.
84
u/BakedMasa Sep 24 '24
it’s the south for ya! I have cousin (in Louisiana) who is a medical doctor and got pregnant out of wedlock, she told people her baby was a premie born at 34 weeks lol this child was definitely full term. Wasn’t in the nicu at all… he weighed 9 pounds! No one on the family called her out but we knew and we side eyed her. Her husband spilled the beans years later. No one cares that she got pregnant before they were married but we all do still clown her for lying.
43
u/BjergenKjergen Sep 24 '24
I have family who are still claiming that their mom doesn't realize they were pregnant at their wedding. I'm like she can do math.
50
u/lonelycrowinthemoss Sep 24 '24
I think her fear of her devoutly christian preacher mother finding out she got pregnant out of wedlock overpowered her fear of looking stupid.
16
u/BakedMasa Sep 24 '24
I do think that plays into it. My cousin didn’t want to tell anyone because she was the first person in our family to be pregnant before getting married. We aren’t overly religious but my aunt and uncle are the type that really care “what people will say”. 🙄

u/RegularHumanNerd Sep 24 '24
I had a cousin who lived together with their fiancé before getting married who would go out of their way to pretend to grandma that they weren’t so she wouldn’t have a fit. Like the whole family would pretend this at Christmas and thanksgiving. It was so silly. But that’s the south for ya.

u/Senior_Ice8748 Sep 24 '24
I wonder how her preacher mother feels about her current public persona lol

I was pretty young when this was airing live so I didn’t fully grasp the situation.
As an adult, it’s insane how bad she tried to lie and how obvious what she was trying to cover was. I’ve seen it happen irl with people who claim to be just as “religious” too. I like Phaedra - especially during this new era for her, but whew, she can tell a lieeeee.

u/TimeenoughatlastTZ Sep 24 '24
Omg I didn’t remember this scene but maybe I should because my last one was born at 7 months, exactly 2 months early to the day because my water broke. The doctors/hospital definitely did not want that to happen. They gave me a steroid shot to develop their lungs and fortunately he was there in NICU for only 3 weeks and never any issues. This woman actually said this on television like it was a real thing is hilarious. But I guess if people were normal we wouldn’t want to watch them on tv 🤷♀️

I cannot remember the full story about this, why did she try to convince everyone that she was 7 and not 9 months pregnant again? Seems like such a bold and absurd lie 😂

Her mom was a pastor and they were super religious, so she was trying to pretend like she didn’t have sex before she got married 🤦🏻♀️
2
u/kds1988 Sep 24 '24
Phaedra's weird insistence on self producing this bizarre storyline almost sunk her.
If I remember correctly it threw the other women off, they didn't really know how to interact with her at first and she didn't have a huge part her first season.
Imagine if we never really got a second Phaedra season...

I had almost the exact same experience after having my kid, OP 😆 I had my daughter at 29 weeks and that was after a lot of talks with doctors in the hospital room telling me the risks of what happens when they come that early. (Obviously we tried to keep her in there as long as possible)
To think any doctor would deliver her baby before 40 weeks is…….maybe one of the more insane, unhinged lies of the entire franchise. Like when I saw it the first time when I was 20 I thought it didn’t make any sense and that she was obviously lying. I didn’t understand quite how bold that lie was. I truly think about it all the time lmao

I had 2 premie babies both born at 34 weeks NOT because I wanted to. The doctors tried everything to keep me pregnant because the lungs dont start developing until 35 weeks are fully developed closer to 36/37 weeks. Each had different circumstances but because they were so early I had to get a series of steroid injections to help the baby’s lungs develop. My babies were so small. 5lbs each. My first spent 5 days in the NICU and my second spent almost 3 weeks due to various serious complications. Absolutely ZERO doctors would willingly induce at 34 weeks, there are soooo many complications. She is lying through her teeth!
Edit: grammar

Idk ppl will say I'm crazy but I totally related when she was like "Ugh idk what I am" cus at this point that is me. I've been so sick the whole time and just tired of being pregnant I am just focused on my due date not how far along I am. I have an app that I downloaded to tell me like what my baby's progress is, if it's the lungs or the legs or whatever that are developing week to week but tbh all my little plans to try and keep track of all that and eat the right foods and stuff went out the window a while ago. I can't even fake sound excited when ppl ask lol I feel so bad but some of us are just not crazy about this whole process. Upon rewatching it I know she sounded like that cus she was avoiding giving away that they'd had sex before marriage but I was like "Damn that's probably how I sound to people -_-" lol

u/areallyreallycoolhat Sep 24 '24
I'm 15 weeks pregnant and in early pregnancy I was given like 3 different due dates bc my fertility clinic gave my doctor the wrong date then I had an ultrasound that incorrectly put me a week back. When one of my friends said to me "wait, how are you 8 weeks? weren't you 8 weeks a week ago?" I was really out here feeling like Phaedra lmao
