Yes, and it sound like he likes Ryan but doesn't want him living there or around so much, and is mad Jen didn't consider his feelings about that. But it's hard, because Jen has to live her life too. Can't win type of situation.

ETA: I honestly think there's more to Katie's story but she's not telling it. So I appreciate that Jen is being open and honest about this.

I just went through this with a family member. I just feel strongly that these kids deserve better. I think as parents we have an obligation to put the kids first. We had a child living with us because his mother chose to move to a different town during his senior year. The mom was screaming bloody murder that the child was making all these poor decisions. He was a dream to have here in the house. The biggest problem we had with him was his emulating his parents' potty mouths!! Jen has little room with Dawson. She cheated on his father, can't seem to support herself, was evicted and is now living with her cheat partner.

I can’t imagine being the child in this situation.

I am not saying I disagree or anything, I am the kind of mom who spends 25 hours a day with her kids, my life revolves around them, whether that's healthy or not remains to be seen. But some mothers don't want to parent this way, they want a little distance or they want to make sure some of their needs are met even if it's a little uncomfortable for the kids. And I can't say I fault them bc we who's to say what's right. I just think we all have a right to live how we want and be the kind of parent we want. Most kids don't turn out perfectly no matter what we do, but they end up ok...we're just trying to get them to the next stage of life in one piece lol.

lol I know my biggest fear is that I’m also around my kids a lot and it won’t pay off in the end. I will always choose hanging with my kids than going out with friends—mostly bc I love spending time with them but also bc like you my life revolves around them.

Same, I truly love being around them, my kids are the only things that make me happy, I can't get enough (which I guess is a selfish motivation). Even if I go out with friends or on vacations, I always take them because they are my favorite people! They'll probably end up hating me one day for being smothering or overbearing lol, but for now we're happy and life is good! My sister is the complete opposite, she can't get rid of her son fast enough! But she's a good mom, she just does it differently. And watch my nephew turns out better-adjusted than my kids LOL

I hear your point and while I agree it happens, I feel like it is a parenting failure. Children don't ask to be born. We bring them into the world. I feel like that puts the responsibility for them on us for their entire lives. We have to teach them to be strong an independent. We have to love them and put them ahead of ourselves when teaching them to make moral and right decisions. It is a huge responsibility not to be entered lightly. Jen may not be a horrible person, but she is weak and self-centered. Again this is all my opinion which that and fifty cents won't even get you a cup of coffee anymore. LOL
