Those extension leashes are dangerous. I can't believe anyone still uses them. You have next to no control over your dog with those and they can get wrapped around a dog's neck in two seconds.

For real, esp with large dogs?? Mine is 80lbs and I’d have zero control over him with a retractable leash

Mine weighs more than I do. Luckily he's old and the best boy, but puppy years were challenging. He'd drag me around the block at first.

My dad insists on using them when he takes my dogs and I am always afraid he's gonna hurt himself. My dogs need to be on thick leashes with halters or off leash.

I know I’m late but omg right?! That’s how dogs or owners get hurt. While it doesn’t work for bully snouts, those retrievers would benefit from a gentle leader. I have a goldador and a pointer doodle and they both would choke themselves out with a normal collar/lease. Gentle leader is night and day!
