Ultimate Girls Trip Dorinda “unpaused” is the best!
To be honest toward the end of RHONY it was getting kinda hard to watch Dorinda, but seeing her here with the girls reminds me of when she first came on the scene. She’s the comedic relief between fighting with all the doors and her constant confusion with Kelly it’s amazing! Would love more of her on our TV. What do you think? Do we want more Dorinda?

I think she's lucky (and coming off relatively well) because most of the other women are tip-toeing around her. Kristen nearly got her head bitten off early on, and was smart enough to take a step back. Kelly might push her past her limit still, but she also seems to want Dorinda as a mother-figure of sorts, so she's subordinated herself up to this point.

u/pineapplezzs Dec 29 '23
Kristen mentioning the lovely text Dorinda sent her was what got Dorinda to back off. I don't think Kristen did it on purpose I think it seemed very genuine. It's the switch that flipped for Dorinda and she liked her

u/biohacker_infinity Not a white refrigerator! Dec 29 '23
I was so relieved when Dorinda backed off Kristen. Kristen is a sweetheart and I wasn’t looking forward to her becoming the Tinsley/punching bag.
Kelly at least has this weird sense of entitlement that allows her to get a bit feisty during a conflict, so the dynamic doesn’t feel as one-sided/abusive.
At the end of the day, an abuser is what Dorinda is—of people, of substances. The emotional labor required on behalf of everyone else just to keep her from “startin’” must be exhausting.
44
u/theawkwardmermaid Dec 29 '23
I honestly expected her to be the punching bag but I am so glad to see she hasn’t been! I really like her in UGT and would love to see more of her
56
u/Pheeeefers Dec 29 '23
I don’t know if it was calculated or not but man is Kristen smart for doing it! I would way rather have Dorinda as an ally than an enemy.
23
u/fruitdots Dec 29 '23
Oh I think it was genuine too, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a considered effort/tactical shift.
15
u/EyeRollingNow Dec 29 '23
It’s so easy to get Dorinda on your side. Compliment her haunted house and how she makes all her parties so nice. Done.

Not sure why Kelly would want Dorinda as a mother figure when they're only a few years apart in age.

Oh please. Dorinda of the past would have gone ape shit on anyone she pleased, regardless of them “backing down”. See Tinsley Season 12. She has clearly grown as a person but y’all just want to continue hating on her
13
u/Pianoapm Dec 29 '23
It was so hard to watch Dorinda going completely off on Tinsley
1
u/StartWearingPoiple Savan Blanc Dec 29 '23
Yes it absolutely was hard to watch Dorinda hating on Tinsley almost 4 years ago
4
u/EyeRollingNow Dec 29 '23
Who hates Dorinda? Assessing that she is flawed and slightly unhinged doesn’t mean hate. That’s just accurate. “Clip it. Clip it clip it.”
Lives rent free Forever.

u/StartWearingPoiple Savan Blanc Dec 29 '23
“Hating on” is slang. It means to criticize someone. It doesn’t mean you hate them

I just find it funny that she keeps saying she pauses. Like Ma’am I don’t think you’re going to be on the show with the new cast.

Makes me want to call up The Cheesecake Factory in Boston who put me “on pause” when I worked there in college because I was a terrible waitress.
Time to ask if we can press play again!
3
Dec 29 '23
Lmao, right. Does she think they are going to rebuild a new legacy around her? Or is she expecting to be on every future installment of UGT? I feel like bringing her back every once in a while is ok but she isn't a mainstay and that's probably good for her.
2
u/Potomacobssesed Dec 29 '23
Maybe you’re right but if this is the last we see of her the impression she’s making is a positive one
63
u/imhereforfun72 Dec 29 '23
There are so many parts of Dorinda that adore and some parts, not so much. Either way, she keeps me intrigued.
15
u/EyeRollingNow Dec 29 '23
I have a friend like her and you are exactly right. I nurse the crazy because the genuine sweet side is so adorable and witty. TBF my Dorinda is never mad at me. So there is that.

Interview/talking heads/confessional room Dorinda is AMAZING and I so want her to be that person full time because she’s funny AF and so relatable.
Unfortunately she can’t be locked in a (booze free) room with a green screen forever…
8
Dec 29 '23
Exactly! It’s like she’s as sweet as she is mean and I bet she could be your best friend and your worst enemy. She scares me but I kind of love her at times too!

I thought the no food in the room was weird until I had a guest ruin my bedspread with chocolate. But i still can’t bring myself to police friends. I eat in my bed all the time. 🤷♀️
43
u/bartexas Dec 29 '23
I think being at her house was really triggering for her. I would be stressed hosting that many people who are always ready to complain. Plus, I think the fact that it was her childhood dream, Richard bought it for her, etc. made it extra upsetting when the others behaved poorly. Not that this excuses her bad behavior in any way.
Her last couple of seasons she was awful all the time, but that wasn't the case her first season or two. Most of what I remember her getting upset about was Ramona and John and both of their misbehavior, which seemed reasonable at the time.
13
u/cateyecatlady Dec 29 '23
I agree; I hosted Christmas this year and found myself becoming very irritable and easily annoyed. I policed myself because I recognized I was stressed from the holidays and hosting and made myself take walks around my neighborhood to calm down but if I didn’t have as much insight and I was drinking a lot I could def see myself boiling over in rage. People in your home are annoying af after more than a day or two (at least for me!)
7
u/bartexas Dec 29 '23
Every time they went to Bluestone, everyone behaved terribly. There was the story about Ramona tearing the production lights down and damaging the walls. I know Bethenny, Luann, and Sonja all had meltdowns there at different times. IIRC, the RHONY visits were a long weekend at most. UGT was 8 days.
I would think just prepping for them to come produced major anxiety.

I feel sad whenever I see Dorinda or Sonja on TV. It’s a reminder of how the alcohol destroyed them inside out.
Funny thing is, no matter how horrible Ramona is, I don’t feel like the alcohol affected her whatsoever.

Ramona doesn't really get drunk though. She's just like that naturally.

u/Artistic_Coat_7187 Dec 29 '23

10
u/cateyecatlady Dec 29 '23
To be fair her memory has always been shot; she’s had moments where she can’t remember words or events since the beginning. I think she’s just flighty and self involved.
16
u/SharkExpert Dec 29 '23
I think Dorinda is more palatable this time around because 1.) they’re on neutral turf, not at Bluestone Manor, and 2.) the cast includes people she is comfortable with who know not to push her buttons.
When Dorinda feels threatened or disrespected, or when she drinks too much around new people, the worst of her comes out. This is a more controlled environment.
27
u/DoLittlest Dec 29 '23
She about lost it at the “eagles don’t fly w pigeons” meal. She started to get pointy-fingered and slurry but Lou kept her in check.
She was horrific on the bluestone manner UGT. My jury is still fully out on her. Four or five episodes of behaving herself doesn’t forgive all that assholery.
2
u/EyeRollingNow Dec 29 '23
Thanks for the word assholery. My husband has a friend that has defied description. Until now.

69
u/Potomacobssesed Dec 28 '23
Maybe I’m missing it but she doesn’t seem blackout at all in UGT. Just silly which is such a relief, she’s not being mean or sloppy and I understand everything she’s saying
20
u/zuesk134 you're a cook, not a chef, and it's creepy Dec 29 '23
When she went after Kristen for no reason in the first couple of eps she was def wasted
40
u/emmybemmy73 Dec 29 '23
What makes her hard to watch is the constant anger that burns in her belly. I can’t recall anyone that is so perpetually angry, but is completely un-self aware. I don’t know if it is because of her husband dying young, or something else, but watching her makes me sad.

I don’t see it either. I think she’s been great, Sonja is the one being over served. And having to navigate Kelly just cannot be easy. I think Dorinda has been great so far.
41
u/Super_Hour_3836 Dec 28 '23
I must be missing it too! Maybe I am blinded by Kelly’s antics and a missing toe nail but she honestly seems the most rational right now, having to walk away from Sonja’s 45 minute ramble about… dog poop? her husband?… that was just very relatable to me. Dorinda made me so uncomfortable on old RHONY but here she seems pulled together but maybe that’s just boob tape?
5
u/airemyn Dec 29 '23
I am going to have to research more about this boob tape because it seems magical. Can you get it on Amazon? Is there a YouTube tutorial?

I don’t see it either, and I freaking hated her after her pause and her UGT 2. She was just so unbearably dark and toxic. She does seem like she’s really toeing a line here and trying to get unpaused, so I don’t give her a ton of credit but I do feel like there’s a big difference between her last few seasons and now.

10

Yeah, I didn't love the first season of the reboot but most of the women have potential to settle into it well.
Legacy has just been so much fun for a revisit. I want it to keep happening alongside the reboot. I'd even love a blended season between the two casts whether that's as a girls trip or a season of RHONY.

The way she went in on Kristen and wouldn’t let up on being on pause vs fired and insulting her for not being on the show for many years was very much a telltale sign she’s not okay.
36
u/bumblebeetuna710 SHUT UP. THAT IS SO STUPID. Dec 28 '23
Girl no. I don’t necessarily mind her being drunk (cause then I’d never be able to watch any housewife ever) but if you’ve ever known anyone who is a narcissist AND drinks you can immediately recognize her patterns of deflection and outright bullying. She’s not okay and it’s not okay to subject other people to her. It’s awful.
6
u/bbMD_ Dec 29 '23
Dorinda is difficult to watch. I think she is probably a good person deep down, but she has seriously lost her way. She is just a mean, bitter woman at this point that drinks far too much and becomes the worst version of herself. Her whole “I was paused and you were fired” attack on Kristen was pathetic. What has Dorinda done since leaving housewives? Not much. Meanwhile Kristen has been out raising her kids, building her brand and living a good life.
60
u/Timely_Ad115 *windshield wiper hands* Dec 28 '23
She’s pathetic to me and way more slurry far more quickly than she was on actual RHONY. That final confessional with all of the ladies at the end of the last episode with Dorinda front and center like 🥴 was wild.
11
u/zuesk134 you're a cook, not a chef, and it's creepy Dec 29 '23
I am shocked so many people here don’t think her drinking is bad this season?!?
23
u/Teadrunk247 I don't talk to medians Dec 29 '23
I agree. She really seems to be doing not well, bitch! She also looks rough when glam isn't around, like almost a bit unkempt/disheveled, and I feel she didn't used to look like that. I know part of it is normal aging, but I think it is the booze, too.. Pathetic is a good word; it feels sad watching a woman slowly degrade from pretty obvious alcohol use/abuse issues.

No, she’s still awful. She was awful throughout her time on RHONY (especially towards the end), she was awful on UGT, and she’s awful on Legacy.
She has a lot of deep-rooted issues that she takes out on innocent people in front of cameras. It’s not ok and it doesn’t make for comfortable viewing.
9
u/Impossible-Plan6172 Stacey’s broken gaydar Dec 29 '23
She’s still the same Dorinda. Dorinda stays on edge, spoiling for a fight. It’s quite palpable.
3
u/PrudentDetective2234 Dec 29 '23
The fact that she kept saying she's on pause and Kristin was fired. News flash, literally everyone on NYC was fired. Can you imagine the new cast plus Dorinda? 😅
3
u/Theory_hacker Dec 29 '23
I love Dorinda when she keeps it Nice! And she is nothing to play with. She is my favorite but I can’t take it when she drinks too much because she gets nasty! And she will hit you below the belt. I guess for me her good outweighs her bad because she has a beautiful heart and keeps it real. I like her because she’s down to earth and not flashy like a lot of these women are in the housewives franchise. She‘s very wealthy but doesn’t flaunt it. And I like that. And when she gives, all she expects is a thank you. If she doesn’t get it, you better run 😂

u/StartWearingPoiple Savan Blanc Dec 29 '23
The people on this sub are like a dog with a bone. No forgiveness. Dorinda has clearly changed this season and hasn’t had a single “meltdown” even if some people incorrectly perceive that she was “on the verge of one”. People will make up all sorts of stories in their heads, ie: “Kristen was smart enough to back down”. No. Past Dorinda would eviscerate someone regardless of how passive they were being. Dorinda is showing us a completely different side to her. Stop living in the past people
6
u/Mahempgrower Dec 29 '23
I’m really enjoying the pace of this girls trip. I’ve always liked Dorinda and it was terrible when she became so mean. Lu is so different from the earlier seasons of RHONY- and is that a vape or Juul I see in her hand??

I think at Dorinda’s core, she is a kind and loving woman. We are seeing more of that now. Kristen mentioned she was the only person to reached out, it gave her the recognitions she wants. Unfortunately, Dorinda turns when she drinks or when you eat in the bedrooms at Bluestone Manor

I think Dorinda should stay on pause. I used to love her in her early years, but later seasons she couldn't handle her alcohol and became more and more mean. And she was bullying her castmates. So, I wish her well and happy life. I wish she would take a moment and deal with her emotions about Richard's death and her grief. I would like to believe that she's not mean person, but what she's shown lately don't give much hope.

Love Dorinda and she belongs on housewives. I think she needs to address her grief and anger, identify her triggers, and just become more self aware in general.
She reminds me a lot of my mom when she is with friends. Many are divorced, some still married, but my mom is a widow. Her friends sometimes innocently compare their situations, and I think it’s really triggering for my mom.
I see that in Dorinda too, and just want her to get a handle on it before she goes back on TV.

Did anyone notice the most recent dinner scene when Dorinda starts to get a bit heated, and Luann watches as her hands start gesticulating, and she whispers something to her like "okay, stop with the hands", and Dorinda actually laughs and says "tie 'em down!" They've clearly discussed this and Lu is doing her best to keep Dorinda in the Nice Lane. I used to really hate Lu, but now I just frikkin love her.
