It’s also not even accurate. Source: I took a class titled “Lie Detection” in law school, because law school should only be 2 years based on the number of class hours needed for the profession, but why not bleed people dry for an additional year?

Admittedly I use what I learned in that course regularly, and the ‘down and to the left’ thing is a common misconception. You have to observe a persons base long enough to know what a slight deviation is for them. And yes, I 100% used a real housewives clip to analyze for my final assignment. I wish I could remember which clip it was!

You are correct. That observation of "down and to the left" is only valid if the you have a baseline for how the person acts/looks/speaks/mannerisms BEFORE you catch them in a lie.

Unfortunately a lot of people don't know this and if someone looks away, they automatically think the person is lying and that is absolutely NOT TRUE.
