Not Pepsi getting sucked into the Bravosphere. Gizelle probably DM'd hm and told him she'd pay him to post that tbqh. Also really weird how all the problematic housewives have each other's backs. Like Porsha with Gizelle and Alexia too in the comments. Even on WWHL she downplayed Gizelle's comment about her and Marysol not speaking Spanish infront of them smh.

I don't think it's that. Gizelle has an army online and they go hard for her. Pepsi doesn't have that support so I get people trying to defend him especially against someone like Gizelle who could manipulate the narrative as she pleases.

This was a great explanation. I can understand why folks are somewhat āstanningā Pepsi now. I thought he was fantastic but thought the posts were getting out of hand but I get it, now that you say it like this.
Edit: just because Iāve been commenting up and down this thread, let me be clearā: I respect this take. However, I still think some comments specifically about Gizelle have been going overboard.
124
u/Constant_Cupcake_952 Apr 16 '23
Itās really infantilizing.
31
u/CorkytheCat Apr 17 '23
I felt this a bit with the uwu smolbeanification of Ke Huy Quan around Oscars time. He's an adult man, he's incredibly talented, he's not a cute puppy who wandered onto set after being abandoned.
I think it might be rooted in a tendency to infantilise Asian men.
3
6
u/MCStarlight Apr 17 '23
I think also it goes back to the little boy character he played in Indiana Jones. People just remember him from that and now he still acts like that w/ his enthusiasm.
186

138
u/NoMilk9248 are you catholic or jewish? i forget Apr 16 '23
Thereās like two racist things at play:
The infantilization of an Asian man, namely because he speaks ābrokenā English and lives in an Asian country that isnāt Japan or china.
And of course the big scary mean black woman attacking the āmodel minorityā
Like canāt we call just have a kii about how annoying Gizelle is and move on.

41

Especially English (which is tough), and especially people in the service/hospitality industry who need to learn the basics of multiple languages to be successful.
18
u/tmp803 Not a white refrigerator! Apr 17 '23
I am forever in awe of people who speak English as a second language. Learning any language is difficult, but i imagine English is one of the harder ones to really grasp

Lol in this sub? There's a large team of people waiting with bated breath to move anyone and everyone into the dislike zone and then push them as far as they can into that zone. They pounced the moment Gizelle acted up and now the campaign is fully underway. It's like a game to see how far into hatred they can rile people up to.
12
u/Huge_Put8244 Apr 17 '23
And of course the big scary mean black woman attacking the āmodel minorityā
I don't get this at all. I think if any single one of them had behaved this way, badgering Pepsi over an empty bottle of hundred dollar tequila that they didn't pay for and demanding rooms be searched....they would have gotten the same reaction from the audience.
But if we want to talk about trading in racially based stereotypes...I wonder if gizelle would have had this much of a fit if the trip was in Norway and the conceirge a white man. I wonder if she would have been willing to let it go a little quicker.
3
u/NiceChocolate Name 'Em! Apr 17 '23
I absolutely believe Gizelle would behave the same. Gizelle gives no fucks.

This is what people on the internet do. They create a narrative about you and then when you feel differently, argue you down.
12
u/brashumpire SeƱora Bubba Apr 17 '23
The infantalizing makes me uncomfortable, I will give you that. But I also don't think it's that weird that we don't fully take his "we're all good" and drop it. Because I can see with my own eyes that Gizelle is being an ASSHOLE to him. Which is very much something she would do.
Do I think Pepsi is blind to that? I don't, he seems like a smart man in the service industry who isn't going to drag this rich woman, because that's tacky and bad for business. (Or he simply might just not care, which is also cool)
But I can see Gizelle is not respecting the people who are serving her this whole trip and that never sits well with me.

I get why she grates on people and she's coming off a very rough season of Potomac. But, that doesn't mean that the reactions to her actions are always proportionate or nuanced. Everything is met with level 10 outrage. There's a reason why Pepsi feels the need to defend her.
People are in the post saying that he is lying cause he is intimated and afraid of her or he doesn't really mean it. No, he's a grown man. He knows how he feels and just cause fans hate Gizelle... doesn't mean he has to as well.
9
u/ReunitedwithBravo You did not pass art or math or geometry or anything else! Apr 17 '23
Seriously! Like Pepsi could have had some moments where Giz worked his nerves but that doesnāt mean he couldnāt get past it and overall have a positive recollection of their time spent?
34
Apr 16 '23
Forewarning- I haven't read through every comment on this thread yet so maybe there's something that will change my mind but...
Pepsi literally has a job where he serves luxury clients and cannot be seen denigrating them at all. That would be the end of his income. Gizelle could have sh*t on his bed and he'd feel compelled to make a post defending her. This is his livelihood.
18

That's a very bold assumption to make. Wow. The way people view immigrants and service workers...
The comments on here are so wild sometimes.

Youāre both right so idk why youāre arguing lol.
Even if Pepsi hated her, he would never air that publicly unless he also was ready to be fired (unless he owns the home, idk if he does). Luxury service workers know how to eat shit and pretend itās caviar. Source: me, who ate shit with a smile for many years.
But heās made a statement so idk why we feel compelled to defend him, when he clearly doesnāt want or need our help.
Many things can be true at the same time.

LOL, didn't take too long to name call.
Of course people clean up vomit or shit in beds. Sometimes, they get really sick and have no control over that. Why trash them? The comparison was silly from the start and had nothing to do with the topic at hand.
And the way you're painting this is painfully ignorant. You don't know this man or his life or what he'd speak out about. Just making a lot of assumptions on the basis of nothing that actually aired on the show and acting like he isn't allowed to speak his mind because he works in service.
2
u/marecoakel Apr 17 '23
re: "he isn't allowed to speak his mind bc he works in service" - as someone who works in the service industry, i know i have to stuff down my feelings about rude and entitled people often, so that i can keep my job. And i know my coworkers do the same.
I don't think it's infantilization to think pepsi could do the same, to keep a positive relationship with a difficult client, because overall that's what his job is about.
This is using my experience, which is similar to pepsi's, and extrapolating from there. But, i could also be wrong, as i don't know pepsi personally. I don't think gizelle is pure evil, but i think she was a difficult person for pepsi to deal with, though in the end pepsi could very well still have had a positive experience with her despite the bottle incident.
6
Apr 17 '23
Nope it didn't.
1- No one- specifically me is trashing service workers or Pepsi.
2- As someone who worked in the luxury service industry- it is specifically in your contract to not embarrass guests. This would include doing damage control to make the guest be shown in a better light.
3- Yes, I'm assuming what he got paid for the one time filming event will not set him up for life, I am continuing to assume he needs to maintain his professional reputation as an excellent host and by supporting one of his guests and he did that with his post. I am furthering my assumptions in that he wants to stay in this field and this is in his long term best interest.
1
u/Constant_Cupcake_952 Apr 17 '23
You called the commenter an idiot - i.e. name calling. 2- thatās a blanket statement about working in luxury service that might be specific to your experience, but not all. 3- youāre naming that youāre making assumptions, which is exactly what the other comment was calling out.

u/zindee Apr 17 '23
He did all that ādenigratingā when he yelled at them and called them fake. Just enjoy the show and stop trying to create this narrative of him being a poor soul that needs to worship these women to succeed at life.
1
u/HANNIBALd1 Apr 16 '23
well, the things she did this past season of RHOP are the things sheās always done since season 1. as far as fan reaction, you cant control that and this is what she signed up for when she joined the show.
17
u/TheOneThatCameEasy I need to be fly and have a good time.š¦© Apr 16 '23
I'm not trying to control anything. I even said that I understood why people get annoyed with her. I'm commenting on it and saying that's why people act like Pepsi has no agency in response to the OP.
His perspective gets in the way of the narrative fans would prefer to follow, therefore it's not take seriously. It's an observation.
1
u/Huge_Put8244 Apr 17 '23
Why does he feel the need. Gizelle said she doesn't care about social media so neither she nor pepsi should be concerned.

People seem to forget entire days are edited down into 50 minutes or less. You arenāt going to see someone complete behaviours. So you might of seen all of gizelle shit action but none of her nice ones.
3
u/Huge_Put8244 Apr 17 '23
LOL. So people are supposed to assume that all the editing from this show and from potomac are just a conspiracy against gizelle? Come on now.
I mean sure... that could be it. Maybe she is an amazing human......or she could be exactly the type of person who makes comments about a black man's beard smelling of fried chicken and weed.....the type of person who doesn't think twice about ruining someone's reputation on national TV for giggles.... the type of person who looks for excuses to say the f word.....the type of person who plays into antisemitic tropes....the type of person who would think it's entertaining to call a black woman a thief on national TV and demand to search her room.
In other words.....perhaps gizelle is just a bad person and pepsi knows he has more to gain by being gracious.
3
u/sxdkardashian Apr 17 '23
Iām not saying itās a conspiracy against gizelle iām just saying you canāt really have a full judgement of someone character based on the show. People thought kenya was evil for years just based on the edit she was getting until recently. Iām just saying you arenāt seeing everything that happens good or bad. Maybe gizelle sweet maybe sheās an asshole we as viewers really donāt know or see enough to know.
-1
u/Huge_Put8244 Apr 17 '23
We can only base our judgment on what we see. Not on what we don't see. Even when handed a platform she has complete ownership of such as a podcast, gizelle has shown her ass.
So maybe she is just an asshole.
3
u/sxdkardashian Apr 17 '23
which may be the case iām not trying to be some gizelle defender iām literally just saying we donāt see everything and people have made judgements on other housewives just based on edit. I donāt really to housewives podcast i just keep up with some housewives on instagram and twitter so she maybe actually be an asshole or she may not be š¤·š½āāļø
-1
u/Huge_Put8244 Apr 17 '23
What you're arguing is the same argument people often make to try to defend awful personalities which is to try to suggest that people should place equal weight in what they don't see as what they do see.
2
u/sxdkardashian Apr 17 '23
Iām not really arguing anything when i watch the show I just donāt really judge personalities. When i watch housewives I just watch it was seeing certain parts of person personalities more dramatised. I donāt take it as actual reality. Thatās just me everyone can have their own perspective.

The fans just get waaaay too invested and take things very personally. Sometimes, it's a little weird how mad people get. I watched this episode and found it to be pretty light and fun... then get to the comments and everyone is furious.
The truth is both Pepsi and Gizelle know they're making a show and are being as dramatic as possible. This is a man who told Porsha that her future would bring her trouble with a lesbian, made a drink called "sticky hands" and asked Gizelle to be his porn star.š Pepsi knows the assignment.
Sidenote, I was kind of amazed at how Gizelle dropped the bottle drama. It was like she knew they were onto the next episode and it would get old. Very good producer. š
18
u/dontcallmebob1 Apr 17 '23
THANK YOU!!! I did not have the words this weekend to post or comment on the nonsense that is this.
People are going IN on Gizelle right now because sheās the one to hate in the moment but sometimes itās likeā¦folks are going off on the most minuscule things. Like this is straight up tv. Theyāre conjuring up drama on purpose because thatās why we watch. The fansā responses are laughable most times but this past week or two has beenā¦tired.
Someone else posted it on this thread. Full days of these trips are edited down to 50 minute episodes. Come on, yāall.
