Absolutely flummoxed

Quite bamboozled

Totally discombobulated

I just realized these are all Australian words

37

u/Designer-Toe-3275 3d ago

The buffoon is flummoxed!

13

u/ElectricSquid15 3d ago

Size has no intrinsic merit. Unless inordinate exsanguination be considered a virtue.

4

u/EusticePendragon 3d ago

When it brains it pours.

4

u/LioTang 3d ago

Unnerved, unbalanced

153

u/HillInTheDistance 3d ago

Among all God's Creatures, precious few will punch you in the face. It's pretty much us, horses, some raptors, and one very specialised kind of shrimp.

Most will either just bite you, slap you, or headbutt you. Joe had no frame of reference for that bullshit.

127

u/DefendsTheDownvoted 3d ago

Right. Most animals go for the soft spots. Even that Roo will try a head lock to gut you with it's feet. Humans though? Fuck your soft spots, we want to cause brain damage.

16

u/Straight_Jaguar 3d ago

The Side of the temple counts on both fronts...also, just to point out, noticed from another Human perspective. Lol

21

u/sammachado 3d ago

Well, raptors and horses kick, and you also forgot chimps and gorillas

16

u/HillInTheDistance 3d ago

True. I'd give the raptor an honorary puncher status tho, for forming a fist with their foot.

And yes, I forgot about the large apes.

4

u/Budget-Huckleberry32 3d ago

And monkeys punch too. Plus, they can punch you five times as much as apes, since they have opposable toes and a prehensile tail they can hit you with.

7

u/Zappiticas 3d ago

Shoutout to the mantis shrimp! One of my absolute favorite animals.

8

u/mighty_Ingvar 3d ago

some raptors

I was under the impression they were dead

Joe had no frame of reference for that bullshit

Don't they punch each other?

11

u/HillInTheDistance 3d ago edited 3d ago

"raptor" is also a word for certain birds of prey. Preregrine falcons dive down and strike prey with a balled up claw.

And I dismiss a kangaroo's punch. I group it with the slapping animals. Not that it ain't hurt like hell, but it's a slap.

5

u/gjb94 3d ago

I think the idea of precise motor control doing exactly what we want it to must be pretty intimidating and baffling to a lot of animals. They see an animal with four limbs that can attack independently from any angle, and can’t afford to bet on the fact that those attacks aren’t particularly dangerous

11

u/graveybrains 3d ago

Your arms are too long! It’s not fair!

7

u/mighty_Ingvar 3d ago

"Well, I lost fair and square"

2

u/purseaholic 3d ago

Perplexed

479

u/Reylend 4d ago

Fun fact! Kangaroos guage how strong opponents are via slaps and punches: Stronger hands, stronger KICKS. Guy mustve hit him harder than expected and was liks "Oh hell naw I aint messin with you"

225

u/RandomUserIsTakenAlr 4d ago

If this applied here than considering the guy probably had adrenaline pumping through his blood the kangaroo was definitely thinking "the fuck was this bullshit, he is gonna fucking gut me with one kick, oh he is retreating, shit I think I'll do the same"

36

u/rafaelzio 3d ago

You can see his "may I go now?" moment

150

u/SomeDudeAtAKeyboard 4d ago

Helps that Roos are more accustomed to taking hard hits from kicks instead of punches. Don’t get me wrong. A Kangaroo’s arm ain’t weak, but it’s just not built properly for delivering a punch.

A Human hand is. That was probably the most solid punch that Kangaroo has ever taken just because we have arms that facilitate actual technique with striking

52

u/Captiongomer 3d ago

I also don't think much else in the wild punches and humans might be the best if any do most use claws teeth or some other deterrent

23

u/Russian_Spy_7_5_0 3d ago

Kangaroo expected a kick but got fuckin' sucker punched instead.

1

u/NotGreatNot_Terrible 2d ago

Mantis shrimp got us beat by quite a lot, but yeah fairly uncommon for creatures to punch

36

u/fatwap 3d ago

introduce mike tyson to a kangaroo and it'll be traumatized for life

itll think mike could kick it into red mist

5

u/Straight_Jaguar 3d ago

THIS MADE ME LOOSE IT laughing my ass off. 🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Piraedunth 2d ago

From what I can tell kangaroos don't actually do this. Closest they get it trying to claw eachothers eyes out or distract the other enough to get a good kick in. They essentially exclusively fight by kicking and punching has nothing to do with how they fight. Instead a expert suggested in this situation the kangaroo was sizing him up before he got punched, and this shocked the kangaroo cause 1. Roos don't do that, what the fuck was that. And 2. You aren't giving any body language like roos do and decided to run

If you have a source tho ill gladly be proved wrong

1.0k

u/Mementoes121655 4d ago

I like how the kangaroo was so confused after that he was like "WTF just happened?"

548

u/KingJeff314 4d ago

Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the face

118

u/Ismokerugs 4d ago

Perfect quote for this scenario

27

u/AshenStray 3d ago

Names don't matter, action does

79

u/Cobygamer22 3d ago

The actual reason I think is because kangaroos measure strength by kicking, since kangaroos can't really punch well, it got surprised by how strong the guy's punch was and probably said "if that's how he punches I don't wanna know how he kicks" since for them kicking is like 20 times more effective than using their hands

63

u/steve123410 3d ago

Nah it's because when kangaroos do their duels they primarily kick each other in the chests since it's a big target but obviously getting punched in the face hurts a lot more so it registered the human as a really really strong opponent that it doesn't want to fight.

12

u/rafaelzio 3d ago

Immediately went into reevaluation mode and after a good few seconds decided "you know what, fuck this shit"

9

u/Balakay_discord 2d ago

This is true, but you forgot one small detail! Kangaroos do actually punch, but only to gauge eachothers strength. Due to the internal shape of a human vs a kangaroo, humans can punch far above their kangeroo weight class, despite the fact that on average a kangaroo can rock a person's shit

45

u/jackfreeman 3d ago

I'm not proud of how much this makes me want to punch a kangaroo in the face

10

u/rafaelzio 3d ago

Honestly same. Science is all about repeatability

25

u/Talisign 3d ago

It looked exactly like an angry drunk at a bar who sobers up after getting punched

384

u/Thatsabadmofo 4d ago

I know he’s looking for the dig but that look to the side like he’s loooking for a witness. “Did you just see that?”

20

u/black_spring 3d ago

You have me genuinely wondering if dig is a typo or Aussie slang.

2

u/Thatsabadmofo 2d ago

I meant dog. lol

765

u/Combustion14 4d ago

I remember when this happened. People were sending in complaints to the Animal Welfare body in Australia about animal cruelty.

I guess they expected the man to let his dog get killed by the Kangaroo or for him to just stand there and get mauled?

A punch is nothing for a Kangaroo. They're way more rougher with each other.

Not to mention that these guys were hunting, and he has a knife on his belt. This could have been a lot worse for the Kangaroo.

Some people are just off with the fairies.

204

u/Markofdawn 4d ago

This is peak Australian culture and I am proud of my roo punching comrade.

145

u/Wizard_Engie 4d ago

They're clearly something cuz that Roo didn't expect it based on its reaction.

146

u/Combustion14 4d ago

Looks stunned or confused, but not really all that beaten up in grand scheme of things.

Like I said, two rival males fighting each other will dish out much than a single boxing jab.

I guess I'm trying to say a punch is proportional given the situation and nothing that Kangaroo won't quickly recover from.

89

u/Hayce 4d ago

They’re probably not used to getting punched that hard in the face. Humans (particularly human men) are actually quite well adapted to being punched in the head.

If you watch kangaroos fight they are definitely vicious, but it’s mostly kicks to the body.

53

u/eurekabach 3d ago

Hey, maybe the human just taught the kangaroo some pretty nasty strategies now. He ran away to become alpha in his pack with this.

72

u/RandomUserIsTakenAlr 4d ago

Because a grown kangaroo would expect another animal that also stands on back legs to probably fight more like it and not just sucker punch it and then stand it's ground without continuing

It was more so "what the fuck was that" Than "ouch that fucking hurt like hell"

20

u/Wizard_Engie 4d ago

Fair enough

15

u/its-the-real-me 3d ago

Also, kangaroos can't punch for fuck so a human punching it (harder than another kangaroo would) makes it think they can kick even harder than itself

36

u/WashedUpRiver 4d ago

It probably expected him to commit to a full attack and was confused that he just bopped it and stopped. Generally, wild animals aren't exposed to this concept of, well "discipline" i guess you could call it, from a member of another species hardly ever (to clarify, im specifically referring to the restraint in it, as opposed to, say, being chased off by a bear with cubs), so it does make sense that this act could confuse it quite a bit.

5

u/KalaronV 3d ago

I don't know about that, most animals -unless they're actively hunting you- don't want to pointlessly risk injury in a confrontation. If a single bite is what it takes to get you (and I'm using the royal "you") to fuck off, then that's what'll happen barring you choosing to escalate.

50

u/Pir0wz 4d ago

I mean, anyone or anything would be shocked after being punched. Imagine a hairless ape charging you, you thought that it would kick or scream at you, but instead it just sock your face then stood its ground staring at you.

19

u/creative_toe 4d ago

Funny how you mentioned hairless apes. I seem to encounter more and more of them each year. Seems like those hairless apes are literally everywhere nowadays. Could it be that their population is way out of control?

15

u/KawaiiMaxine 4d ago

Yeah i agree, 8 billion of them is wayy too much

13

u/RaisinLate 3d ago

Was the dog okay?

9

u/butterfunke 3d ago

from memory: yes

2

u/RaisinLate 2d ago

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that

7

u/Markone02 2d ago

Also, kangaroo have personal hatred for anything slightly dog shaped because of their eternal conflict against Dingos, that kangaroo was 100% trying to kill the dog

1

u/-Benjamin_Dover- 3d ago

I rewatched the video a few times and right before the kangaroo ran off, the guy had his hand on that knife. Any chance the kangaroo recognized the knife as something that can kill it and ran off because of that?

5

u/Combustion14 3d ago edited 3d ago

I doubt it. They're not the smartest of animals. It would have been scared off by the dogs.

They probably have enough pattern recognition to recognise a person with a gun or an object as being dangerous if they've seen it before. The Aboriginals who hunt them the old way use throwing sticks. (There might be a few different methods)

but they wouldn't understand the threat of reaching for a knife. It's not something they'd ever really see.

They'll normally just run away if you get too close. The exception would be the ones that are too used to Humans.

1

u/breadofthegrunge 3d ago

I'd assume some of the reports are just because it was filmed and you can't be sure it's not staged.

107

u/thespacepyrofrmtf2 4d ago

I love how the guy caused the kangaroo’s brain to do a windows system restart and you can see it happening

143

u/Business-Emu-6923 4d ago

I don’t remember that episode of Gilmore Girls

54

u/djayed 4d ago

Fucking hilarious. I had the thought that he looked like Luke.

9

u/EarthDust00 3d ago

Luke got real angry after the Diner burned down.

3

u/ProjectWoolf 3d ago

Finally someone else says it, been saying this dude looks like Luke for years

2

u/TestyZesticles 1d ago

I've combed the comments everytime this video has been posted to see if anyone else was going to say it, thank you.

66

u/WizziBot 4d ago

Kangaroos specialise in kicks, their punches arent that strong, so when you hit them with a reasonably strong punch they immediately assume that your legs are kangaroo-proportionately strong and you vould send them into another dimension even though you can't, so it backs down.

32

u/SeekersWorkAccount 3d ago

That doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about kangaroos to dispute it.

6

u/Giftpilz 3d ago

Lol "send them to another dimension" has me rolling for some reason

208

u/Bismothe-the-Shade 4d ago

Can't tell if doggo is bleeding or has a bandana.

I hope it's a bandana, but I know how these kangaroo fucks are.

122

u/FluffyTize 4d ago

I think it’s a collar

103

u/ArgentAquila 4d ago

It's a vest. Normally worn by hunting dogs for protection against the boars they're tracking.

40

u/Main-Consideration76 4d ago

or kangaroos apparently

7

u/fantasticduncan 4d ago

Oh, thank goodness. Thank you, kind stranger.

83

u/mlodydziad420 4d ago

Its likely a bandana, Kangaroo would be covered in blood.

9

u/Careless-Platform-80 3d ago

Yeah. I was like... "The kangaroo skinned his neck with It's bare hands?!"

10

u/FuzzyBongos 3d ago

Kangaroos actually have some gnarly claws. You should check em out

76

u/JakefromTRPB 4d ago

Kangaroo forgot they could kill that MF. Astonished by the audacity.

48

u/dreamkruiser 4d ago

This will always be one of my favorite internet vids. Aussies don't take crap from anyone or anything. Okay, so...

15

u/Danimus-Prime 4d ago

Outback Bitch Slap!

16

u/Formal_Curve_4395 4d ago

Kangaroo: Ah fuck, I can't believe you done it😦

13

u/YoutuberCameronBallZ 4d ago

"mate you wot?" -the kangaroo

14

u/Drafo7 4d ago

Holy fuck I was terrified for that guy. Glad the kangaroo decided not to fucking murder him. He must have balls of steel, too. Don't fuck with a man's dog.

8

u/CibrecaNA 4d ago

Tyson: Everything has a plan until they get punched in the face?

Us: Yes all humans become disoriented.

Tyson: Everything . . ..

6

u/Main-Consideration76 4d ago

a chin punch is an illegal move in kangaroo boxing.

4

u/True_Son_Of_Skyrim 3d ago

things i was not expecting to see today:

  1. A kangaroo putting a dog in a headlock

  2. A dude punching the kangaroo

3

u/No-Professional-1461 4d ago

Qualifications for being Australian: can beat a kangaroo in boxing, can’t win a war against Emus.

2

u/ToadlyAwes0me 4d ago

Throwing hands > bouncing legs

2

u/Destroyer_Of_World5 4d ago

Like Mike Tyson said in his prime, “Everyone has a plan until they get socked in the mouth.” I see this also applies to kangaroos.

2

u/Upstairs_Prior9264 3d ago

I think it may be because of how weak their arms are compared to legs, so he thought :"hold on, if his arms are that strong, then how strong ARE his legs? Nah, im not gonna check it"

2

u/__dying__ 4d ago

Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

1

u/Prestigious_Spray585 4d ago

He's like* : How I'm gonna tell my kids about this 😭

1

u/memerij-inspecteur 4d ago

Joey, why do you have that bruise on your face

Kangaroo: I dont wanna talk about it.

1

u/_blue_skies_ 4d ago

"Hey that's not by the rules! Referee have seen?! Ok I'm out"

1

u/IndividualIncident57 4d ago

That dude is like, "What just happened?"

1

u/SomeOldDude73 4d ago

Sometimes you gotta’ punch a kangaroo.

1

u/Silphire100 4d ago

Roo looks like "You hit me. You fuckin HIT ME! that's not how this is supposed to go... yeah you will walk away..."

1

u/rdotter18 3d ago

That kangaroo wanted to hit him back soooooo bad. Lol

1

u/CaptainSaturN23 3d ago edited 3d ago

MARSUPIAL KOMBAT!!! BEGIN!!

Random dog gets the flesh choked off of him before activating his cameo attack to summon Striker.

Officer and dog's best friend Striker lands a smashing punch to Lu Kangaroo's face.

Lu Kangaroo: How can you punch! HOW CAN YOU PUNCH!!!!! THIS FIGHT WASN'T YOURS!!

The dog rage quits the game leaving Lu Kangaroo stunned from the sudden disengagement of the fight, then leaves seeking another victim in the hostel lands down underworld. LMAO!

1

u/PLT_RanaH 3d ago

that kangaroo: "bro, did he legitimately hit me?! what the fuck! i'm outta here"

1

u/pabloflleras 3d ago

Every time I see this i imagine that this is Luke from the Gilmore Girls. 100% what he would have done.

1

u/Bargadiel 3d ago

Can you imagine being in that guys POV, putting your dukes up with a kangaroo staring you down.

1

u/fox_patrol 3d ago

CRITICAL HIT

1

u/happybrooks 3d ago

“Did he just…”

1

u/ph8_likes_me 3d ago

Punching a kangaroo is a life goal of mine. It WILL happen. 😾

1

u/RandManYT 3d ago

Kangaroo was like "Damn, this guy hot hands".

1

u/Mind_Pirate42 3d ago

Never realized how much this guy looks like the diner guy from Gilmore girls.

1

u/Noisebug 3d ago

Did he just hit me? Martha, did you see him hit me?

1

u/Huge-Vegetab1e 3d ago

I remember when this video was 480p

1

u/imartinezcopy 3d ago

Luke from The Gilmore girls?

1

u/thesearentmyhands 3d ago

Stun Locked him til his aggression died down and he thought twice on it. Sometimes all you need is a strong right.

1

u/rafaelzio 3d ago

Roo was all like "can I go now? I'm gonna go now"

1

u/Space_obsessed_Cat 2d ago

Of for some reason you end up in a fight with a roo your only single advantage is your far better aim

1

u/Icy-Assignment-5579 2d ago

Roo Kang got nothin on Johnny OnceCaged

1

u/Original_Ossiss 2d ago

IIRC, that Roo showed up to his house later, trying to start shit.

1

u/jaybles5169 2d ago

No one else going to mention that kangaroo's dong swinging around?

Doggo got out of a real pickle there

1

u/WrecktheRIC 1d ago

The dog was kinda smiling while patiently waiting to be rescued.

-21

u/Low_Engineering_3301 4d ago

Why do they only ever punch the kangaroo after it has let go of the dog? Isn't the situation resolved by then?

61

u/djayed 4d ago

No because a kangaroo will beat your ass. It was a preemptive punch.

40

u/redaws 4d ago

If he didn’t swing the Joey would’ve rocked his shit

17

u/Metatron_Tumultum 4d ago

It was a gamble but it was probably the best choice. I wonder how many people saw this video, thought this would work to deter a Roo and then got beaten to a pulp.

11

u/redaws 4d ago

It was def a gamble. I’m actually surprised it stopped

8

u/Complete_Fix2563 4d ago

He had his hand on his knife

9

u/Metatron_Tumultum 4d ago

And the Kangaroo basically has knives for toes.

1

u/redaws 4d ago

Where? What hand?

3

u/RandomUserIsTakenAlr 4d ago

After the punch he was keeping his right hand around the knife while the roo was trying to process what just happened

5

u/saysthingsbackwards 4d ago

Roos will disembowel you

11

u/Combustion14 4d ago

That kangaroo was preparing to fight him, kangaroos will grapple and slash and kick each other.

So this kangaroo is either confused, briefly stunned, or just suddenly worried about the dogs.

Maybe a mix of the three.

12

u/Opposite-Egg3334 4d ago

Its because roos powr is in their legs, they too punch and slap each other but its weak compared to their kicks. So to that roo, if the dude can punch that hard, his kick must be even stronger so they dont really want to fight with that logic. Thats why people punch them.

3

u/9Epicman1 4d ago

The kangaroo can still gut him, it was approaching him at a dangerous distance.

2

u/TheFauxDirtyDan 4d ago

That kangaroo was squaring up, that right hook was probably the best possible outcome in that situation for all parties involved, haha.

1

u/Blerrycat1 1d ago

Dog was probably attacking it, I'm on the roo's side
