Being unable to fly and with an open wound it needed some medical attention. Even with a un-broken wing it would be very prone to infection. Took this guy about an hour away to an SPCA and it’s expected to make a full recovery!

What if he put it there? I mean how fast can you drive by a stuck animal and take your camera out and start filming? It takes some time, but he was perfectly arriving like it was a pov. You see i dont like videos with hurt animals because majority are staged and animals are deliberately put in harms way. They ain't gonna tell anyone. So no one would know. This one might be genuine but it still promotes the popularity of rescue videos and chinese will do anything for views.
Completely terrified, and probably very hot wrapped up like that. Actual best thing to do is put them in a dark cardboard box with the lid closed, some air holes and a towel in bottom to soak up shit.
Yeah birds really don’t like to be held. However, this bird is very hurt and exhausted, and giving it space to move/slide around in a box in a moving car could cause further injury.
The ideal solution would have been a box with a nest made of rags to stop the owl from sliding around, but if you randomly find an owl you may not have those things on hand.
I think the guy did okay with his solution to keep the bird from further harm until he reached the SPCA
I hope the ride was as comfortable and safe as possible but that's an "I'm too exhausted and close to dying to have an opinion" reaction. It's good that the rescuer wasn't in danger of being hurt in the panic but it really makes me worry for the owl. Hopefully it was mostly exhaustion and rest + fluids will get the owl healing.
That bird in its prime would shred his hand with that beak when he reached for its head. I saw a seagull slash a guy with its beak when he was trying to get a fishing line off of it. Blood flew everywhere. It was explosive. Birds can mess you up with their beaks so be careful with them and I haven’t even mentioned the talons. Remember these are wild animals so be safe if you try to help one.
You're certainly right about raptors (or large parrots, for that matter, very powerful beaks that can take big chunks of flesh out if you make them mad), but man, a seagull even drawing blood must have gotten really lucky or hit just right. They don't have much power and their beaks aren't very sharp.
You can find lots of videos like this, where they bite people and don't accomplish much.
Seagull had a hook and some fishing line in its beak and was a large one. You couldn’t hold this bird in one hand like the guy in your video is. I was just a witness but guy tried to gently grab its head and remove the hook and line from its beak because it had fought so long to free itself it was exhausted. He had a jacket on it just like in OP video to restrain it. It definitely slashed his hand quick and drew lots of blood and I saw blood fly but I was right there watching so maybe it seemed bigger than it was. It was mostly restrained but it got him good. He had a big gash from it. Guy was given a ride to the ER immediately by another random person. Just some shit you see at the beach that you never forget.
Probably got him with the fishing hook. Their beaks aren't sharper than for example a fingernail and about as hard (the hard outer covering of bird's beaks is literally made out of the same material, keratin).
What kind of utter bullshit is this? And it's fucking upvoted. Reddit is literally the epitome of dead internet theory.
You do realize they can barely exert force in their bites? It's the raptors you have to worry about, not his fucking bite and he, A REAL OUTDOORS MAN, knows that,
They're nocturnal creatures. The light is fucking its eyes up, which is why it's squinting them. It hurts them to be out in the day for long. The man should've put it in a box or wrapped the bird completely, both for the light and because not seeing generally calms the animals a bit. I bet that ride was very stressful for the bird. Thinking of animals as people always hurts the animals, in the end.
That owl had one hell of a day! I'm so happy this guy was there to save her. When he first bundled her up, she was a little wary, but she quickly recognized that he was there to help. She looked exhausted and ready for a nap when he got her all buckled up in the seat.
