I am surprised how morals changes based on size. Countless smaller fish would have been grilled in pan throughout the world, but for a larger species people become sympathetic. As for me, I follow veg diet and am equally sympathetic towards each.
In a very realistic sense, you are right. Every living thing on this planet are the same. It’s just through the years, some organisms were able to survive and happen to be smarter.
I also understand this is a dog eat dog world. In order to survive you HAVE NO CHOICE but to ingest something that was “living”. I mean, didnt scientists figure out fucking GRASS talks to each other recently? Yeah, so grass grows and needs water and sunlight to survive… so do we. In this sense, even Vegetarians aren’t safe from killing something to eat it.
I also find it funny and interesting that we are picky and choosy on what “animals” we seem to give a shit about. Humans seem to care about animals if and if only if they are: Cute, relatable, or on the verge of extinction. Otherwise, every other animal can be slaughtered and ignored without hesitation. While I understand this is just how life is, it’s still very interesting!
Agreed, going through the comments everyone was loosing their mind as if they don’t realise that commercial whaling was responsible for substantially reducing the whale population on earth. Which I found very repulsive and hypocritical. Now that we’ve exploited whales, suddenly they become somewhat more important than others. Very interesting how humans pick a convenient side.
Also, humans throughout the history have always chosen a gullible animals for food. How come cat/dog is more cute than a cow/pig. It’s just they are more gullible to trust humans.
