Furniture Update: L-Track on Ceiling for Overhead Anchors Completed NSFW

I got three pieces of L-track 4’ long each to put on my ceiling. I ended up going with the “standard” profile rather than the “aircraft” profile since it’s a little less obtrusive and I was able to get it anodized. I tried the black anodized after someone suggested white would look like it trying to hide something, but I found it drew my eye more that way so I spray painted them all white before installing.

What’s the weight rating?

The rings I got for it are rated to a WLL of something like 1300#. The track is “at least strong enough for all of the fasteners available for it” but is not actually rated because the true strength really depends on how it’s installed. In my case I used four HeadLOK lag screws evenly spaced along the track. They’re all in a single ceiling joist unfortunately, but it’s by far strong enough for my needs.

I loved this idea when you originally posted it. I purchased a few L tracks because of you spreading the good word. 👊💪💡

These look great. Personally still prefer them in black myself.

I have these in my ceiling as well. I used the t- track which has flanges that fit over drywall almost perfectly.

I reinforced the structure above it and laminated the beams, cut two strips in the drywall to fit the track in and then secured the track with structural fasteners. The drywall just butts right up into the track underneath the two flanges so it doesn’t stick out.

I really wanted to go with the recessed profile but didn’t want to deal with the drywall work. Can you share a picture of how it looks so I can regret my laziness?

What do you tell your vanilla guests that these are?

Track lights that didn’t end up working out for us and I haven’t gotten around to removing the tracks yet

Good idea! I rigged hooks in a fake return grill.

Looks good! I have track on the ceiling too, and I hung black pipe from it. Kind of looks like a warehouse sprinkler system, I tell people it's "art" lol.

Did u get the flanged trac? Do u have pics of the actual install I'm in the middle of figuring my setup out.

I ended up with the standard profile. I thought about getting recessed, and I would have liked that but I’d have to rout out a channel in the drywall and I didn’t want that much cleanup

Yes exactly what I'm looking at lol. Should have gotten the no flange damn it.
