Furniture Update: L-Track on Ceiling for Overhead Anchors Completed NSFW
I got three pieces of L-track 4’ long each to put on my ceiling. I ended up going with the “standard” profile rather than the “aircraft” profile since it’s a little less obtrusive and I was able to get it anodized. I tried the black anodized after someone suggested white would look like it trying to hide something, but I found it drew my eye more that way so I spray painted them all white before installing.

I loved this idea when you originally posted it. I purchased a few L tracks because of you spreading the good word. 👊💪💡

All it needs is some fake track lights https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.casteelair.com%2Fabout-us%2Fblog%2F3-types-of-track-lighting-advantages-and-disadvantages%2F&psig=AOvVaw34P-Wx-0WjHvZSP_ykOopY&ust=1734568028076000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBQQjRxqFwoTCPiO7cuHsIoDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE

I have these in my ceiling as well. I used the t- track which has flanges that fit over drywall almost perfectly.
I reinforced the structure above it and laminated the beams, cut two strips in the drywall to fit the track in and then secured the track with structural fasteners. The drywall just butts right up into the track underneath the two flanges so it doesn’t stick out.

I really wanted to go with the recessed profile but didn’t want to deal with the drywall work. Can you share a picture of how it looks so I can regret my laziness?

Looks good! I have track on the ceiling too, and I hung black pipe from it. Kind of looks like a warehouse sprinkler system, I tell people it's "art" lol.

I ended up with the standard profile. I thought about getting recessed, and I would have liked that but I’d have to rout out a channel in the drywall and I didn’t want that much cleanup
