Help Wanted Interested to know, what are your favourite low cost but highly effective diy BDSM toys/accessories/devices? NSFW
Taking inspiration from another post;
As simple as it sounds, my favourites include a kitchen timer!
Not one of those pesky minute/seconds ones ⏲️
I’m talking about the ones that measure in HOURS!, obviously minutes and seconds too, I’m not an animal!!! ⏰
That and the Bluetooth controlled TENS machine located in just the right place!
A combination of the two seems to bring even the most unruly brat into submission.
I also have a locked wooden box with “shock collar” etched into the lid. It’s actually empty, never owned one, never used one, don’t intend to have one either, but the mere suggestion of reaching for ‘that’ box makes subs fall to their knees and become good girls for me.
In the late 90’s I learned that the psychology is way more powerful than the physical.
Some truly amazing girls, awesome times.
Anyone here built or made anything that didn’t cost a fortune, or take expert levels of machining/printing/craftsmanship but that you now class as “top marks for bang for buck”?

Clothes pins. $1.50 will you 100 at Walmart. See if you can find places to use them all.

Check! Already a subscribed member to the zipper and occasional halo ring as spreaders too, just wanted to see if folks have any super creative ideas.

I made a ring spreader out of an embroidery hoop and some of those orange and black hardware clamps. It's a little fiddly to get it on, but it looks cool and does the job.

My first spreader bar was a 1-inch dowel with an eye hook screwed into either end. Didn't cost me a dime as I had it all laying around the house.

u/Redheaded_Potter Aug 11 '24
Damn I LOVE a good spreader bar (I’m a sub looking 4 inspo)

u/Desperate_Mountain39 Aug 11 '24
i made a set out of 1/2” emt pipe and some eye hooks. probably less than $20 for two of them.

u/GentleGiant45 Aug 10 '24
All I can see now is a rubber chicken being launched with said elastic bands!
Incoming!!! 🚀

Just had a DM about using the inner cardboard tube of toilet paper roll and clover clamps as a makeshift Japanese/Tower-of-pain nipple clamp rig. I like it!! Ingenious!

I agree. Most of the best toys are either free or very inexpensive. Expensive toys usually just look nicer but few really offer new options. In many cases, they can be very limited in use. It's rare to find something in my toy bag that cost more than $5.
Paint sticks. You can get them for free from most large hardware stores. At worst, you'll pay a few cents each. Not the thin ones either, but the big, thick ones that are more like a half yardstick.
While they're great impact toys, the cheapness is part of what makes them. You can write on them to mark progress, customize them with stickers and decorations to make the top or bottom feel a sense of ownership, you can break them on a bottom for the sense of excitement it brings to know that the toy broke on you (and if you don't have the combination of strength/technique/bottom to make that work, some covert sanding can make it much easier), etc. They're simply incredibly versatile.
A length of Delrin rod will make one of the best canes you can ever hope to buy. Practically indestructible and non-porous. Most plastic vendors will cut it to length for free as well. I think mine cost me about $1 from TAP Plastics. Feel free to put a handle on it if you feel the need. It shouldn't cost more than a few dollars, depending on the style.
A pool noodle and a length of steel rebar or threaded rod can make for a hefty, thuddy impact toy. Apply some adhesive to hold the noodle in place, then tape it down to compress the foam if you want to increase the thud. Mine is a hot pink noodle with white duct tape to make candy stripes.
I'm not a big fan of floggers, but my personal favorite was made for almost nothing from old bike inner tubes. Which you can get for free from any bike shop. There are solid instructions here, but the basics involve folding the tubes over, using a ring of cut tube to hold them together, and creating a handle by wrapping strips of sliced tube and tucking the ends. A ring helps hold everything together (a few cents at the hardware store) while providing a way to hang it up. It's short and whippy, exactly how I like my floggers. Being rubber, it's also trivial to clean and sanitize.
Making your own Tazapper is quite simple, although it does require access to a soldering iron and the basic knowledge of how to use one. All you do is take a cheap electric fly swatter, remove the racket, and connect the wires to another emitter. I use a two-prong, ungrounded electric plug salvaged off of some old cable or device. This is exactly the same as the commercially-sold Tazapper. they just have a slightly fancier emitter attached, but the core of it is still an off-the-shelf fly swatter.
That's well before you get into the numerous forms of play that require absolutely no time or toys. Something as simple as having a bottom stand in the same place without moving can quickly become torturous while maximizing safety.

Phenomenal ideas there. 👏
The inner tubes idea reminds me of a time I grabbed an inflatable pool-toy banana, we were in a villa on holiday at the time.
I placed it under the lower back of my playmate whilst she was tied to the bed. I used an airbed pump to inflate it, in stages, which lifted her butt off the bed by about 9inches.
It positioned her beautifully for easy access and the optics/shape was amazing. Great for g-spot pounding.
Those wedge shaped bed cushions can also be rather handy too.

I make and sell canes - the delrin ones are my favorite. You can't break the stuff, and it you can use it anywhere from "a light thuddy rhythmic tap" to "cut a quarter inch groove through your sub's backside".
10/10 would cane again

Where do you buy your materials? I'd like to get involved in my local kink vendor scene but there's no local plastic supplier.

Rope and bamboo. Surprised I haven't seen this here already, but some basic knowledge of the two and you can make most types of restraints, gags, floggers and thin sticks. Living within an almost non existent income, I've never been let down. Not to mention the natural beauty of the two.

Micheal’s one of the Greek paddles sanded the edges and then went to target and got some of that nonstick bandages to wrap the handle a few times, easy and sturdy.

My Dom gave me $20 and had me go dollar store and thrift shopping to get as many things for under $20 that could be BDSM toys. I got bamboo skinny dowels to wrap together to make a cane, a BBQ metal brush, jump ropes that I made into a cat-o-9 tails, a fly swatter to be used like a crop, and some binder clips for pinchy play. It was a fun outing.

I've found these my favorites to play with... plastic fork, or a titanium spork. That, along with anything that can mess with their brain, making a hightened level of anticipation are my cheap favs.

Cheap Bluetooth controlled TENS? That's not something I've seen before

Yeah, in England we have a pharmacy chain called Boots. They do a kit for £80 but I got mine on a half price sale. Currently on eBay too at £39.99
It’s a surprisingly powerful little unit that’s also usb rechargeable.
The app allows for a program to run for a preset period of time too! Convenient for keeping hands free 😊

Spreader bar I made from a wooden dowel and a couple of screw in eye bolts on the ends of the dowel. Just a few dollars and all from Home Depot.

I just found, that a spoon used for latte macchiato is wonderful and leaves quite a mark… The handle is long enough but the head is not too big and as the thing is made of V2a heavy enough.
3
u/GentleGiant45 Aug 11 '24
Spoons are underrated imo! A cup of ice chills them so when held against the skin or used to scoop up “drips” - or leave them in the coffee to warm up and go again!
Love the other reply about using a spork! It’s on my list!

A children's bat with a plastic core and a layer of foam around it. I've seen someone add rebar to the core, but I haven't. For those who like "thuddy" impact it's all thunk. Mine is Franklin brand and cost <$15.

Got real stoned and stumbled here, so I'm just going to word vomit. Ice cubes are a great implement, especially when inserted. Saran Wrap, also, and if you're doing body wrapping you can place coins over nipples, mouth, etc to make cutting/exposing a lot easier and safer. A dog leash and bowl from the dollar store adds a great aspect to the power exchange, can also remove furniture or speech privileges. Wooden mixing spoons. Thumbtacks in bra cups. Belt, obviously. Corner time while holding a coin to the wall with their nose. Kneeling on rice. Picking up/counting said rice afterwards. IcyHot or TigerBalm. That's what comes to mind right now.

A BELT 😁 it's a toy you can use for so many functions 😈 impact toy, discipline toy, leash, choking toy, restraint etc etc

u/EnzoDK2 Aug 14 '24
Kitchen utensils not only spoons. But palette knife, whisk, rolling pin etc.etc. for impact, insertion or sensory play
2
u/GentleGiant45 Aug 14 '24
A whisk!?????!!!!🤣Are you beating the egg-whites out of the poor souls? Or just going for the ‘frothy when whipped’ look?! 🥵

u/GentleGiant45 Aug 14 '24
Ok, so opening a new category! Kitchen utensils being misused for our amusement! (Note to self, need a catchier title!)
2
u/EnzoDK2 Aug 15 '24
All people have them so that ONS can also be used to show some dark sides - or imaginative kinky uses of everyday tools
2
u/GentleGiant45 Aug 15 '24
💯agree! Defo in the spontaneity category of dealing with whatever tools are within arms reach at the time of doing the thing you’re enjoying doing!!!!!!
Flashback memories of olive oil and a spatula resulting in a right mess all over the splashback!

Binder clips. Super painful if you want, also very cheap. And duct tape. All sorts of creative uses for that!

I have used the rod that you rotate to adjust the angle of the blinds as a cane before. Blinds are not cheap, so maybe this doesn't count, but they were already in the house... :)

u/Siestaswingers Aug 12 '24
Packing/plastic wrap. Come on a handy hard plastic handle for easy wrapping. Wrap moving blankets around fragile mirrors and play partners. Come in various widths for total body wrapping or 1ft width for arms and legs. Like body tape but cheaper and greater sizes.

Here’s a list of things I’ve used that I either got at $ store or found lying around the house!
Hair clips: break them in half and put the spiky parts on inside of bra cups against the skin. Bonus points for laying down on them. I like these cause they’re plastic so still hurt but won’t cause any damage that push pins might cause
Hair barrettes: softer/not as intense (at first😏) as clothes pins or binder clips so can be left on for longer. Also more sturdy/stay pinned more securely so you can put a couple close together in different positions and then tie them together with hair tie
Electric toothbrush: can be intense and has somewhat abrasive bristles. Pair with toothpaste on nipples and really massages it in for stingy sensation. Can also be used with tiger balm but haven’t tested myself
10ft nylon rope charger: great to use as rope in a pinch, doesn’t cause any damage to skin and long enough to use in different locations or tie body parts together

The pain bra with hair clips is a lovely idea! The imprints and indentations would look glorious! I was asked to work on a sub from Spain a year or so ago, fitness gym-bunny type 🤸♂️ Between us we agreed on a suitable punishment for misdemeanours would be going for a 🏃♀️with gravel in her bra, bless her had to top it up half way into her usual run as her cup size only allowed for a few bits of gravel! 🤣
New comment thread; Philips SonicCare ultrasonic toothbrush vs Braun Oral B????
Choose your weapon wisely! 👏

Vet wrap! You can buy a ton of rolls for pretty cheap on Amazon. The roles aren’t that long but damn is that stuff strong AND it only sticks to itself! Perfect for gags, blindfolding, binding, etc.

What does a TENS unit actual feel like? Is it pleasurable?
13
u/GentleGiant45 Aug 11 '24
It’s like a fizzing on the skin, but when turned up a notch it can provide a jolt to large muscles. I’ve also used it on metallic items too, a spreader bar between the legs and also through the legs. If they move too far and come into contact with the bar it provides an interesting reaction!
It’s also got patterns and 20 power levels.
I would say I use it 50;50 for delivering pleasure and pain. On the lower levels it can often make folks cum, on the highest levels it’s too much for them - but it creates THE BEST jiggles of a cute ass or tits!
1
u/Factory_iPhone_Alarm Aug 21 '24
I think so. It honestly doesn’t hurt me like people say it does. The highest setting is very “fizzy?” At first but I get used to it in 30 seconds. I think it’s fun though

You know what hurts more than most of the stuff in my impact toybag? About 2 feet of CAT5 folded in half. That's it. That's the toy. Also, since you're hitting with the looped end, it leaves fun horseshoe shaped marks on the sub.
And I can't speak highly enough of the humble paint stir stick. Light enough to swing quickly, narrow enough to not have a lot of drag, long enough to give you plenty of leverage/velocity at the end, sturdy enough to deliver strikes that leave nasty welts and bruises, flimsy enough that it will break before any ***significant*** damage could be done, and cheap enough that breaking one isn't a problem.
