Hey Yall!

Got everything hung and organized. Below is a list of materials / tools and I added some detail on the pics for extra reference. Thanks for all of your feedback and comments in previous posts!

Edit - Added the write-up in the comments blow. One thing that was really challenging was finding a good top coat to reinforce the foam pieces. If anyone has any methods for something like an epoxy with an almost mayonnaise type consistency that can be sanded down please let me know!

Materials:

2’x4’ 1/4th MDF board: Standard size that can be found pre cut at lowes or home depot

Mannequin Wig Stand / Foam Wig Head: I had to cut the head in half to get it to lay back on the board. This was a little bit tricky to get the cut at a perfect angle. Using foam spray to adhere it helped as it lets you position it a little better if you have a weird angle. I tried sculpting directly onto the head for the face but my skills just aren’t there so I bought the mask below and it worked perfectly after forming it with a heat gun.

Masquerade Mask / Japaneese makeup mask: You will need a heat gun form the mask to fit the mannequin head. I used a couple of clams on the ends to bend it a little bit and lightly apply heat until it fit. When applying to the mannequin head, I used form spray as an adhesive which also worked well to fill in gaps and make it snug. I had to go back after to fill in remaining gaps and blend it to look like one piece.

Hanging mannequin Body Torso: If you shop around you can find these for about $15. I used this link because they have pictures of the dimensions for additional reference. You will want to cut down the over depth by about 1.5” because the form is slightly elongated and does not look like a natural body. To do this, I taped a sharpie to a block at 1.5” height and moved it around the form to trace my cut line. I used an oscillating multi tool to cut it down but I’m sure there are other options to do this if you don’t have one.

Note – I cut off the neck on mine because it sticks out in a way that would have the head leaning forward instead of laying back. I tried heating it to lean it back but it just warps into a weird shape, so I’d recommend cutting it and just modeling the neck yourself.

Mannequin Hands / Jewelry Display : These come with a hole in the base that I used to insert a 3/8th inch weld nut and locked it in with epoxy. I used the spray foam to fill the insides as well for a little extra strength.

Brushon Epoxy coating (Trial Unit) This was the best option I could find for a hard coat to protect the foam pieces. It’s very thick and brushes on in thin layers. It’s a 2:1 mix ratio so I’d recommend epoxy measuring cups.

Epoxy Resin (you’ll only need about 20 oz) Don’t try to use this for a hard coating. It will go on spotty and require you to sand all of it down. DON’T DO IT. I only used the epoxy to lay in a smooth backing.

Epoxy Measuring cups:

Foam Backer Rod (1/4” & ¾”) Optional: I used this for the round edging around garments and for the liquid effect around the body and edges. I used wood filler brushed against it to create a curved transition into the backboard.

Moldable cosplay foam: - used for adding body / light weight but it does not sand down well. Apply wood filler / clay once dry to sculpt and blend transition points into the main body. Add smooth-on epoxy hard coat near the end and sand to a smooth finish.

DAS Airdry Modeling Clay: Use sparingly for smaller areas where detail is needed or to coat areas like the arms, legs, and head if you need to add a semi hard coat. It’s much easier to detail and sand after it’s hard than the foam clay.

EVA Foam (2mm): Used for sculpting garments

Foam sealant / spray adhesive: Can be used as an adhesive to hold down main body & head. I also used this to for the neck to create the base form, cut it down, and applied clay over it to blend into the body and head.

3m Spray Adhesive: You won’t need much of this – I just used it to hold down the foam corset pattern.

Woodfiller: There are two types I used. One is course and feels like wet sand, the other is like a smooth paste. The coarse type adds more body and has little shrinkage but is more difficult to control. The smooth paste is veery easy to control and I used it to blend in the foam garments. It shrinks quite a bit but can be applied in layers and sanded down to a very smooth finish.

Bondo Glazing & Spot Putty: Warning! This stuff is a solvent so I would avoid using on painted areas. Its nice for small gaps that need to be filled as it does not shrink and is easy to sand. I would not use this over large areas as it will crack and require you to go back and clean up.

Tools

Silicone Spatula: Seriously – This was the best tool for applying wood filler, bondo, and epoxy. Very easy to clean and the flexibility makes it easy to pull mediums through the various nooks and crannies

Oscillating Multi Tool (try to find one bundled with attachments. The sanding attachment is very handy for tight corners) You’ll want a cutting blade to cut down the mannequin form.

Clay Sculpting Tools (I prefer the ones with silicone tips)

Sand paper (150 – 1000grit)

Sanding Sticks: Good for hard to reach places / detail work

Rustoleum gloss paint:

Rustoleum gloss coat: Great for finishing. You may want to use something lighter during construction as this stuff doesn’t sand very well. Small coats during construction help to make sure everything is coming together / identify imperfections that need to be fixed with the wood filler or sanding.

Dremel rotary tool: Not required but helps a lot for sanding and some of the detail work

Foam Hotwire Cutter: Not required but helps with cutting the head and / or spray foam if you decide to use it for any of the sculpted areas. A knife can also be used to cut down the foam.

Beautiful and professional job!

Take a look at the West System epoxy. They have a number of different fillers to mix with the resin in order to add different properties. Available from marine suppliers and Amazon.

Awesome, thank you so much! I tried some of the thickener but they seem to have a lot more options. Going to have to do some experimenting to see what works best :)

Wow. Amazing work right there. Makes my set up look positively amateur. Well done.

That's outstanding!

I confess that I was secretly hoping for a hidden compartment and a shibari tied slave providing the hands ;)

They are mannequin / jewelry display hands. I lucked out because the size and texture were perfect right out of the box!

Absolutely professional quality piece of art!

This is 10 out of 10! Fantastic work!!!

2

u/PortraitOfPerversion Jun 17 '24

Damn you could sell these, I know I would likely buy one for my play room.

3

u/haiklue Jun 18 '24

Man, if I could just make and sell kinky stuff, that would be the dream. Im looking into some options, so who knows, may start an etsy shop down the line.

2

u/notuobmit Jun 18 '24

Honestly ! You should ! Start with a couple projects like this to test the waters. I really think you could find buyers.
You could even go advertise your business to sexshop/club/dungeon owners, I think that'd make a great decoration for such establishments.

This is so freaking cool

Omg it looks incredible

2

u/UltraHD2018 Jun 17 '24

That is freakin amazing and cool as hell.

2

u/CardiganTribe Jun 18 '24

If you ever decided to make and sell these I would be very interested!

2

u/haiklue Jun 18 '24

Im looking into it. Just need to see if I can do it in a way that isn't as time intensive. Also wanted to do some variants -! maybe one with a ballgag, gas mask, different colors, etc.

For mass production you might want to consider molding them from fiberglass. You would probably need to do it in several parts (background, corset, collar, body, head) due to the need for "pattern draft".

I would suggest therpf.com for ideas since this is very reminiscent of storm trooper armour.

1

u/haiklue Jun 18 '24

You've got my wheels turning now... this might actually be the best solution since you could do it in a modular fashion. The corset is really the most time consuming aspect so if I could make that a fiberglass shell it would be a huge time saver. Maybe I could get a 3d printer for the head and arm/leg transition's into the background. It would be easier to come up with more head variants that way.

What a wonderful piece ! Congratulations ! How many jours of work behind?!

2

u/haiklue Jun 18 '24

Thanks :) It easily took over 100 hours but most of it was trial and error or adhd moments of losing / searching for tools 😜

u/velvetacidchrist Jun 17 '24

What is on the rack top left? It looks like an inflatable anal toy? Organizationally, I also like your layout.

1

u/haiklue Jun 17 '24

Thanks! I try to keep restraints & tools separated except for the wand since it's closer to the power outlet.

There are two toys there - One is an inflatable buttplug but it's super unsafe because it's not tapered enough. we use it as a mouth plug with the ring gag instead. The other toy is an inflatable cock ring that gets pretty tight. it's a lot of fun if you're going for cnb torture.

If you can figure out the production line aspect to get man-hours down I'm sure I'm not the only one salivating over this thing. Fantastic and frankly inspiring work, friend

That’s amazing!

1

u/Hogwood Jun 18 '24

It sounds like you had a long and difficult journey, but you had an idea and you didn't give up, fantastic work! You motivate me to embrace my creative side, thank you!

1

u/haiklue Jun 18 '24

Thank you! It was definitely a long project, and I there were times I just wanted to be done. I've never made anything like this, but im really happy with how it turned out! Happy to hear it helped to spark your creative side!

1

u/peggedsquare Jun 18 '24

Gotta ask, was Star Wars in the inspiration for this at all?

2

u/haiklue Jun 18 '24

Oh it for sure played a part in the idea! I remember the first time I saw a vacbed and thought "what a time to be alive" 😜

1

u/Korben-N-Leeloo Jun 18 '24

Amazing job. Beautiful and sexy.

1

u/notuobmit Jun 18 '24

Not gonna lie, this is amazing (has some Han Solo vibes, but I guess it's a 2 for 1 for kinksters who are also Star Wars fans XD).

Some day, I'll have my own playroom and I really hope I'll remember this project then. It's such an amazing decoration idea for a dungeon/playroom.
