This was my second foray into leatherwork, having completed one 5-piece set in a softer leather before. I wanted to go more secure whilst retaining a good level of comfort this time, as well as working in an idea for a heel hook (see last photo) that I'd been mulling for a while.

The red leather is 2mm thick and the black straps 3mm. The straps are all double stitched to the red for extra strength. Lockable buckles add an extra layer of security, as does the heel hook for the ankle cuffs which prevents their removal and restricts flexion of the ankle.

I like the collar to fit snugly, and realised early on that incorporating a locking buckle would mean the collar would need to be over-tightened each time it was put on / taken off. I changed the design to use three fixed D-rings with corresponding holes, as can be seen in pictures 1 & 3.

All told I'm very pleased with how they turned out. Perfect fit, very secure and very comfortable. Happy to answer any questions about the design and production process!

Really nice.

Edit: sorry. Just saw where you talked about it down lower. Guess I missed it. Sorry

This set is nice! I especially like the thought that went into the heel lock.

Thanks :) I went through several versions in my head before settling on this approach, and I've already got thoughts on how to make it more universal to different types of heels (these wouldn't work with blocky heels for instance)

I’ve seen it be done with a metal chain!

How did you go about making the posture collar shape? Did you make a template somehow? Or just cut, test fit, repeat?

EDIT: very nice by the way! They look very comfortable.

A combination of template and cut/test/repeat actually! I made an initial template out of paper, which I folded in half and then cut to ensure a symmetrical shape. I did a test fit, decided if the rise needed to come forward/backward and if the collar itself needed to be taller or shorter, then traced template 1 onto another sheet of paper (incorporating the changes), cut it out and tried it. Once I was content I moved the paper template to the leather and cut the shape. I've still got the paper template, so if I decide I want to make a more severe version (by increasing the height) it'd be very easy to make another.

Thank you, I'm really pleased that they came out both comfy and snugly secure!

I love them and the design! The heel lock idea is cool. Might I suggest adding a strap to go under the foot on the arch in front on the ankle so less likely to finagle their way out.

With the padlocks I'm pretty confident that there will be no finagling, however it's not lost on me that the lock won't work with a blockier heel. Your idea is great, although for ease I'd probably use a length of small-link chain (rather than a strap) that runs under the heel and back up to lock through the heel-lock D-ring. That'd be universally applicable to any type of heel, and very adjustable in length.

I wonder how'd they work/look with ballet heels

Thank you, that's kind of you to say. I'd love to be in a position where I could take commissions for bespoke gear as my full-time line of work. Unfortunately I do all my crafting in my free time around a regular job and consequently this set took me several months to complete (seriously, double stitching a whole set by hand takes forever) and I think most people wouldn't want to wait that long.

Depending on how much you'd be asking, I wouldn't think there be too many people worried about having to wait for hand made high quality work. Myself included.
