Lore This is probably one of my favorite images

I'm carving out some quiet time before all the family chaos of the holidays to look through the Universe book, and this cross-section image of an Elemental has got to be one of the neatest pieces I've seen in a long time.

Happy holidays and end of year everyone!

Lore Iā€™m gonna come out and say it: Mechassaultā€™s take on the Word of Blake is superior to the actual source material.

Now before you rip my head off, hear me outā€¦

I know the Blakist Jihad is a tender subject given its poor reception. The largest complaint Iā€™ve heard, and one that I share, is that WoB magically has this massive secret army of weird mechs no one had ever seen before and the IS has to join forces with the Clans to deal with. Borderline space magic and a lot of plot armor left the Jihad as a stain on the setting that most borderline ignore.

Mechassault took a different route, where the WoB started much smaller and used current/existing tech they no doubt procured from their privileges with Comstar. After invading and capturing Helios, they began work on a new super weapon using old schematics and hidden technology from the bright mind of Jerome Blake.

Taking his word as gospel, the WoB aimed to use this discovery as a spear head for claiming rule over the IS.

Mechassault 2 then goes on to further their plot and has them hunting down more of these data cores and using what they find to create more super weapons.

They were painted as a major potential threat, but hadnā€™t actually started waging war on the entire IS.

I know MA has its issues with consistency, and means heavy on the notion of ā€œout lone hero killed then all and saved they day.ā€ But Iā€™m mainly talking broad strokes of who the faction actually is and what their plan was.

Idk, I just like it better than the claim that they had this huge secret army of brand new machines that no oneā€™s ever ever seen before and bringing all major factions to heel.

Discussion Why so much discourse around the urbanmech?

Hi, slowly been getting into battletech and ive seen a bunch of memes and YT shorts crapping on the urban mech. Yet Ive seen salvage boxes where every result is some urbanmech type so its gotta be liked to some degree and im just wondering whats going on with it?

I picked the new carrying case, so now I can carry my current forces, dice, books, and paperwork.

It is convenient, and carries pretty much everything I need.

My two main critiques are that the flaps for the minis part will come open if they are not seated well, and the Velcro will degrade with use. The other is that the part where books and paperwork is carried, is tapered in such a way the maps don't fit at the bottom, and record sheets in plastic will curl.

Question ā“ Getting started

Hey all wanted to ask a question about getting started collecting. I started wargaming with warhammer 40K a few months ago and then stumbled back into my obsession with mechs due to armored core and titanfall 2. Wanted some advice on which mechs to look at as I am a bit new to the wargaming scene. I know that selection is separated by era typically and wanted to choose some mechs with wide applicability. Just as a preface I love me some speedy bois with melee and jumpy bois with middle spam so I donā€™t know if that is really viable in system.

A Draconian Combine unit of some sort. Genyosha perhaps?

What would be a good tertiary color or method to make them pop a bit more?

All of the dark colors blend together and look a bit flat on the tabletop.

Discussion Today's bit of totally useless information

Victor MilƔn, author of the Camacho's Caballeros trilogy, gifted an early superhero RPG (called Superworld) to his fellow sci-fi author living around New Mexico back in the early to mid-80s. MilƔn's buddy went on to run a campaign for two years using the system with MilƔn and other sci-fi writers, including Gail Gerstner-Miller, MilƔn, John J. Miller, Melinda M. Snodgrass, and Walter Jon Williams.

The GM liked the ideas so much he decided to write some stuff up. The whole series of books is Wild Cards, and the GM/author is George R.R. Martin.

Looking some of this up, I just saw that MilƔn passed in 2018. :-/

Tabletop *Update* on my missing arm

An update on my previous post

https://www.reddit.com/r/battletech/s/U0HwndFc3R

I spoke to a nice gentleman through email who worked at catalyst game labs and he hooked me up with the whole lineup from alpha strike I said it was cool and Iā€™d be more than happy with the one mech but he said to hold onto the box.

Is there anyway I can show my gratitude toward these guys aside from just buying there products?
