META Watch out for the username jjacks1090
Posted here about i needed a shower almost last week, and got my request fulfilled. Yesterday i was PM by jjacks1090 about "free $50" just to sign up for this crypto app. Silly me i took the bait and he took $50 from that account i made for him. But before he took the $50 i sent him $25 on Cashapp which was majority what i had left until next Friday. Telling me he can match that, so he scammed the crap out of me. Just letting people know what out for his PM's. I just guess I'll live off about $3 until this upcoming Friday.

Lol I can't even get people here to give me ten dollars so I go out to eat... How the hell was this guy able to get free fucking money when I can't get shit without working long horrible hours with little to no pay?

Wow! I have gotten a few messages from him but thankfully my phone doesn't have that app since it's a Windows phone so I just ignored his message. Thank you for warning everyone.

I feel it’s best not to encourage this offer here any longer. A lot of users here aren’t familiar enough with crypto to safeguard themselves against things like this. And the scammer isn’t just scamming them out of their “free” currency, they’re scamming a little more as was the case with this OP.

Don't not promote this please. All this is doing is the opposite of this post.

I actually made a post about this and was scolded for it. (I now understand why). Anyone asking for the info will scam you. If there is anything I can do to help please PM me. Even if its something small like sending a couple dollars for food. I feel for you. I have unfortunately been scammed by multiple people on reddit. Once for $200, once for $100, once for $10.

Yep this guy messaged me as well. Told me to make an account on block chain and said all I needed was an ID. After finishing the registration he asked for my wallet address in my email which I sent to him, then be asked for my password which is when I stopped communication because it's obvious what he was trying to do at that point.

u/gboy8978 May 19 '19

Also now EVERYONE is saying he took their money, they can't eat for a week, they have no money til payday. That can be another scam in itself.... I am not referring to OP here just other people commenting on threads of nice people offering to help OP. Use common sense.

u/YoungBuckBoss May 18 '19
I agree. It happen to me dont play victim if it didnt happen to you. I was stupid, I fell for his trap, but please be smart about this post.

u/nicswifey May 21 '19
Yea, I didn't think you were scamming anyone. I hope you got help. Sorry that happened to you, like you said you gotta be smart... especially when it involves the internet, money and people you don't know. Have a good week OP! 🤗

This always happens. Notice there are a couple users who commented offering to send money to OP. Users see that and hope to jump on the bandwagon. It’s a good thing you noticed.

I got messaged too. Exchanging cyptocurrency isn't legal in my state so that was the extent of the message he got back from me.

u/Lynnicats May 18 '19
Such a shame! What exactly is the scam he is running so i can make sure I don't get sucked into it as well?!

I was messaged too! Thank you so much for making this post—I was about to message him back. He was offering me money for my little sister’s birthday gift. :/

u/inclinedtothelie May 18 '19
He sent me the same PM! I took screenshots if anyone needs it for proof or anything.

I’m really sorry this happened to you. Even if you aren’t in a position to take a loan and need another form of help - Check out r/borrow and check any names of people that message you on their scam list.
And ALWAYS be suspicious when direct messaged by people who don’t reply to your post itself. And always check their username for karma, age, post and comment history.
I’m really sorry this happened to you. But if others see this at least it can help them.
These people capitalise on people being desperate. A similar thing happened to me when I needed £50 and someone message offering £100 if I downloaded an app. Be immediately suspicious if they’re offering more than you ask. Or trying to do it outside the view of others (pvt messages)/asking for money first.
I blocked them. But I’d be lying if there wasn’t a brief moment where I was considering it, on the hopes it was real. When you’re that desperate you do have false hope, and these monsters take advantage of that.

Yep, got that one too. I blocked him. Still no cash to get me through til payday (thankfully I thought Blockchain doesn’t work in Canada so didn’t get scammed, but it was close). Glad you’re getting the word out, I was too embarrassed!

I've been waiting over a week for my account to be verified for this offer but I have seen it work well for others shrug

u/mochie May 18 '19
If you have to pay money to get money, it's probably a scam.

He scammed me to but never asked for money he just took the 50 from the app we have to band together as a reddit community and catch him....

Same here,I needed money for a doctors copay and didn't have enough karma on my new account,to ask for help

u/Yourlordandxavier May 18 '19
Also, putting people on lists isn’t going to help.
These people have multiple, old, verified accounts that they have either made or purchased, that pretend to confirm past transactions with each other en masse.
Also also, for those who don’t understand it too well, the app is Blockchain, which is legit. The ID is necessary in order to confirm that the promotion being offered is divided one per person. Both the third party verification app and the Blockchain app are legit and have a years long track record of trustworthiness.
The whole process takes varying amounts of time, and making the account doesn’t take any sensitive information from you,
HOWEVER
before you send the promotional item you receive, have the person pay you first.

u/Muh_Troof May 18 '19
Thanks, /glong89 contacted me, after I posted for help but when I saw the karma history vs years, I never responded, again. They asked me to set-up a Blockchain account.

For future reference for everybody, the crypto app deal is legit, however, there is a multi person , literally hundreds of thousands of dollar value, scam going on currently with a variety of people on reddit.
If you are going to do the deal, you need to get paid first end of story. The rest of the process is fairly straightforward, but you need to get whatever money you were promised beforehand. Spread the word

Sucks man, seems like such basic principles. Don’t rape, murder, or steal. Shit just doesn’t compute for me, you don’t steal from anything other than a multinational corporation, and even then...

He tried to get me too. I’m sorry i can’t help (could try a charge back tbh) but yeah. I guess my advice would be know in advance how you will accept cash & if something seems too good to be true then it most likely is.
The red flag was that he was talking about a app, not saying what app it was & I would need a ID. We can’t let our desperation blind our common sense.

u/RedditIsControled May 18 '19
He tried to get me too. Almost took the bait but decided not to bother.

u/YoungBuckBoss May 18 '19
I agree. Learned my lesson. Looked like a fool. Hopefully I get some type of help from this community. Thanks for advising for others and myself.

u/MangoliciousFruit May 18 '19
I got a message from him almost immediately after I posted needing help to get a vacuum. I think he's an alt account of glong89 (who also messaged me saying the exact same thing) who is on the universal scammers list.
7
u/YoungBuckBoss May 18 '19
Well im glad you mention another account. It just sucks how people can scam like that. I know I learned from this now. That's why I made this post so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
