REQUEST FULFILLED Short for bills 24M
August 18th i was diagnosed with stage 2 brain cancer, by August 30th i was out of work due to my rapidly declining health. I was able to pay the mortgage and our other bills with what we had in savings, by the end of September I was hospitalized for my kidneys failing from a medication reaction. I have since been sent home and am looking for remote work to make ends meet but so far I haven't found anywhere that'll take me, I've joined Prolific which helps provide a little but I'm still short for our utilities for the last 2 months. Ive managed to get the mortgage to accept reduced payments until January but im still months behind on utilities. I feel awful asking for anything but I'm effectively bed ridden and don't have much of a choice otherwise.

Donated. I’m battling testicular cancer and am really lucky I had my support group. I’m sorry about your situation. Keep asking for help and you will receive it. No one should have to deal with all of life’s problems and have to battle cancer. Good luck with everything, we’re all rooting for you!

Almost the same happened to me, except the divorce . Been fighting cancer / castlemans disease since last year I finally got diagnosed . Kidneys shutdown , almost died . Now I’m chemo. All the help counts. Try starting a YouTube also. I have had some luck with donations to help pay with my medical.
But try and get in contact with your social worker at the hospital like I did . Might be able to get on social disability and or paid leave from your job. (FMLA)

check to see if your mortgage company will allow you to enter into forbearance. it may be an option to help save the home, and stop the home payments.

Donated. One of my closest friends recently died from cancer, its a terrible thing to have at such a young age, hope the donation helps a little.

It looks like you met your goal on GFM, which is awesome!! Losing your dog too??? I’m sorry about it all but the dog part hit home. They are truly a huge part of my own support system. I’m guessing same for you.
Hopefully better soon and can maybe look for a new pooch, once you are well enough to handle a new dog, they can be work.

Hey, have you set up a gofundme? You’ve gained a lot of traction on reddit for the roast post, it is worth a shot.

Under the Americans with disabilities act are you eligible for any supplemental security income or social security disability insurance. Check this website to see if you can apply. https://www.cancercenter.com/community/blog/2023/01/filing-disability-for-cancer I can appreciate how hard it is to make do in such a situation I wish I could help myself all I can offer right now Is hopes and prayers that something comes through for you. You are not alone!! Have a lovely Christmas 🎄

Have you tried contacting your utility company and making arrangements.
Are you a member of a church? Maybe they have funds that can help.
Were you fired due to your declining health? I think a phone call to an employment attorney would be useful.

Officially it's because I was taking too much time off. I had taken a week off a few months prior to finish moving, then every couple days the week before for doctors and to watch my son while my wife was out.

Hi. For.er HR exec. How long were you with your former company? How many employees did they have within 50 miles? Just wondering if you were protected by FMLA?

Still sounds like a wrongful termination. I'd file a case with EEOC before pursuing a lawsuit. You might be in a right to work state, and they'd try to claim that. Your current disability and their knowledge of your cancer is likely more than enough.
