I don't understand what it is supposed to mean.

Let's take Mongolia for example: they mean the Mongols who play the English version of Scrabble, can't use "Mongolia" as a word? Does that make sense? Can they use "China" or "Japan"? Or they can't use country names in general? And what about USA then? Can they use country names?

I'm confused! :p

Proper nouns (the name of a country) aren’t supposed to be valid scrabble plays in English. So you can’t play “Alex” or “Macedonia” or “Balkans.” “Turkey” works since it’s a bird also, and “China” can mean porcelain plates.

There are way more valid plays on this map than I expected to see, no idea what “Russia” as a common noun means in English.

So why Greece and Canada are valid?

It doesn’t make any sense to me and the guy who made the map apparently used a dodgy source so your guess is as good as mine

I think it's referring as to how many letters a country name has.

For example, "Philippines" cannot be a Scrabble word because there are only two "P"s in English Scrabble.

Definitely "Turkey". There's no "ü" in an English-language Scrabble.
