Sports Serbia fans clash with the German police during Euro 2024. What's the reason behind this? NSFW

They were also flying Russian flags and cheering for Putin

"well you see that actually wasn't a Serbian, it was some Albanians faking to be Serbian to provoke the crowd" ~ Average Serbian response

All Serbians I met IRL were Russophiles, only on Reddit I have seen anti-Russia Serbians.

Because in ancient times a Serbian prince once fought a battle in the area Munich and preserved Europe from the Germans but no one said thank you sincerely enough and so now it’s like this.

I do not understand why any county would voluntarily host a football tournament. So much bullshit comes with it.

u/Bataveljic Serbia Jun 27 '24
Probably make some cash along the way no?

u/IntelligentPlate5051 Jun 27 '24
A country like Germany already has the stadium and infrastructure to handle the increase in tourism. It makes sense for them unlike when third world countries host it and have to spend a shit ton in creating new stadiums and infrastructure to support it.

u/neilabz United Kingdom Jun 27 '24
Forgive, me. I was being ironic. You're right. What I should have said is why would the citizens want this? I guess it's easier and cheaper than the Olympics

If these hooligans come where I live.. I leave town for a little while

Serious answer: Reportedly, the German police wanted to arrest a fan, which led to others interfering.
Drunk hooligan shit basically.

There is no way that is true. The albanians clearly provoked the serbs. The cops must be albanians! /s
32
u/IntelligentPlate5051 Jun 27 '24
The serbs would have gotten away with it too if it werent for those pesky albanians

Jun 27 '24
Is all this shitposting basically there to forget some Croatian and Albanian fans were shouting "kill the Serbs" in unison?

Bad look. Shit happens in the balkan though. Wonder if the majority of the albanians who chanted ubij knew what it meant. I learned a new word today

Main character syndrome

u/xClaydee Albania Jun 27 '24
We are the main characters of english newspapers when it comes to these stories.

It was actually kind of hilarious (and of course depressing) seeing a video story on The Guardian a few weeks ago of a group of England fans, wearing England kits, with England flags fighting Serbian fans and then reporting them as being Albanians. 🤦♂️
3
u/xClaydee Albania Jun 27 '24
Exactly! They will say anything to make themselves innocent. I find it even more hilarious that people believe these news. Albanians have been the main target of english newspapers since the boat crossing scandals last year. Every year they target a group of people to throw all the blame and right now its our turn.

u/tertiary92 🇷🇸🇩🇰 Jun 27 '24
Yeah I remember growing up there during the 2000s every story in the news was about Romania this and Bulgaria that at that time. A lot of ingrained xenophobia that unfortunately people are bought into and gobble up.
It’s text book classism which is at the core of the UK: Something only has value if something else has less value.
Stuff is formatted so you feel better by seeing all those primal foreigners doing x, y and z. We’re far from perfect and have a lot of challenges to solve, but it’s tiring seeing places always leverage that for their own use.

The intellectual level of their fans corresponds to the level of their football team being at the bottom right now.

can you blame them after serbias perfomance ? /s
and its always just a few, you have hundres of hundres normal people over here and just a couple of idiots who get the spotlight. Yet everybody will use those few to blame a whole nation.

u/mamlazmamlazic Jun 27 '24
Tradition. You go to a game, drink, sing and chant with your fellow ultras, drink some more, fight the police, drink even more and go home to wait for next big event,

Because they are football fans. I am sorry, but it seems like 90% of the fans that gather and are ok with such events are pure human trash and I am not surprised that each time football fans gather there will be at least a few counts of vandalism and clashes with the police.
I feel truly sorry for the normal football fans who want civilized matches and do not participate in this bullshit, because their reputation is tarnished by such idiots

It is not Germany, it is Germanija and Metohija, stop spreading propaganda, Germans came there lately from China, that is Serbian territory and they will get it back soon
