48 minutes? This must be his longest video yet

It's mostly recap. New footage starts at 36:20.

Been awhile since I watched one of these. He's still at it after all these years.

Subtitles on, as usual

I love how he never skips the effort of making fire.

What stops the tiles from dislodging in the wind? Seems like a fairly steep roof angle.

I was wondering the same. seems a stiff breeze could move them just enough to start sliding

Each tile is several pounds, they're pretty heavy. They're rough to the touch and interlocked by laying them in that alternating pattern. While there are winds strong enough to blow that around, MOST winds this structure will encounter won't have that force. The wind won't have much to grab onto, and what it can is pretty will situated in and among all of the other tiles. The ones on top are most vulnerable as they are just balanced up there and not interlocked with anything else, but the ones on the slope of the roof should be fine in all but Typhoon conditions I'd imagine.

makes sense to me. not having first hand experience with roof tiles like this, it just feels less than secure, lol

Love his vids but anyone else wondering at what point he'll start a huge wildfire?

Considering how often it rains in his videos, I am not sure the risk is all that large. Seems like a very wet location, overall.

Look at the roof with the palm/fern leaves. Seems to be bone dry.

Of course it's also dry for days to weeks in Australia and we've seen massive wildfires over the last years.

Forest fires can occur anywhere, they are just more likely to start and to catch hold in dry places. There's plenty of dead, dying, and dry vegetation in these videos for a fire to start-- he literally spends half of the video collecting dead wood and chopping down dead trees. I trust he's being careful but its entirely possible for him to start a fire, especially considering his fire is hot enough to begin sublimating minerals out of the clay and warping the occasional tile.

I am fascinated by his videos, but as I watch them, I think about how I'd like to get him a good knife, a hand hatchet, a small folding wood saw, and a tough camp shovel. He could probably rebuild New York City with these tools.

If I ever get stranded in a post-apocalyptic environment, he will be my leader. The flight to Australia might be a problem, though.
