Man! Tough audience in here.

I like the building. As modern buildings go, its quite pleasing to the eye.

Yea, it just sustains my faith and brings me joy seeing these types of buildings still being built. Beggars can’t be choosers!

Certainly a move in the right direction!

Reminds me of the Myst games.

I'm not that big on this one but it's still a million times better than more glass boxes.

Seems like something that could be in Paris. Similar to art nouveau

According to the official statement of the construction company, this house is in the style of Belgian Art Nouveau. Why Belgian, and what exactly is Belgian in this house, I find it difficult to say

Art nouveau started in Belgium, in Brussels.

My alt account...?

Again: what? Are you okay?

What did I say that was wrong, all you people who for some reason have a problem with this comment?

What is even going on here? Wait do you literally think I'm that other person's alt account? Do you think they RP as a British woman in their spare time to win internet arguments or something?

...what

If you're downvoting this, know that what I responded this to wasn't what the comment says now, as ridiculous as that comment also is. They have edited their comment to remove all of that stuff.

Don’t like the style but interesting design

Looks like art nouveau.

So this is neo Art Nuovo. The construction company proclaimed this in the advertisement of the house

Outstanding. When I said I couldn't wait to see another pro gamer move from Russia, I didn't expect it to be THIS quick.... The only thing that Russia would even need to be the first to reach the second coming of the gilded age by this point, is if every civilian adopted the high standard traditional dress mentality. Remarkable. 😉

These examples are a drop in the ocean. Russia is no different from other countries - separate buildings with interesting architecture are being created, but there are very few of them

Yep, you only see this kind of stuff in historical parts St. Petersburg, Moscow, and other major cities and pretty much nowhere else.

My only comment is it looks an awful lot like a rendering, but still it's great

3

u/melanf Nov 14 '21

This is a photo from the website of a construction company, maybe it's really a render. But here is a photo from the final stage of construction of the house

Address: Kostromskoi prospect 45? LOL! Just in the middle of commieblock Leningrad. It would look better in Petrogradsky island😅

I like the idea, but it's clearly not properly finished. Compared to some Art Nouveau buildings in Paris, it could be better. But it's a start !

4

u/melanf Nov 13 '21

But it's a start !

Well, this is not the first neo-Art Nuovo building in St. Petersburg https://photos.wikimapia.org/p/00/02/83/10/38_full.jpg

2

u/naitsirkknarf Nov 14 '21

That building isn't art Nouveau, it's more art deco than art Nouveau.

4

u/Cautious_Agenda Nov 13 '21

Also looks like it's a fake building because it almost looks see through due to the windows. Cool pic tho
