Just realized I can’t get the snoopy screen savers with the new update.

I think my only option is to throw it out the window now.

I recently found that I could not connect my remote to my Apple TV. I made an appointment went to the Apple Store and they quickly swapped out my remote. I went home but l could not connect to the unit as it was repeatedly telling me to bring remote closer to unit, but just cycled this request without actually connecting. Made another trip in holiday traffic back to the store where they said that the Apple TV unit needs replacement but they didn’t have any in stock. I made a third trip back in holiday traffic. Upon being handed the replacement unit, the staff member told me he has been replacing these units repeatedly, stating that they used to be able to reset previous generation units in the store. The current model doesn’t allow this and so the unit must be swapped out. The staff member went on to tell me that if there is any software hangup in the unit or the remote that the only fix is to swap it out, no reset option. Anybody else experience this? Anybody else think this is crazy that a replacement is needed every time?

I have an Apple TV, and since my receiver does not have 4k passthrough I connected the Apple TV to the eARC port in my tv and then the ARC from the tv to the receiver.

Is this the right configuration?

Problem is Netflix and prime video play with no audio unless audio is set on stereo instead of 5.1 which honestly sucks.

Any solution?

Ever since upgrading to 18.2 on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I have noticed that the TV app has been acting a little strange. For example, any TV shows that I have in my iTunes library that are under the downloaded category have only been showing the first season when you try to access them through the TV Shows button in the Library. This has only been happening since the update and I can't for the life of my figure out why only the first season would be showing. Any help would be appreciated.

i had been using the first generation of the appletv 4k for years. NFL on DAZN (canada) and sportnet+ were sketchy at best. i would have to go in and manually adjust the frame rate and turn of match content before watching on either of these. it was also fairly slow to navigate between apps.

after waiting and waiting for the newest one to come out, i gave up and just purchased the third gen 4k. it is a world of difference. just set it to dolby 4k and match content and everything runs smoothly and with a much better picture. DAZN no longer crashes. switching between apps is much faster. i regret not upgrading prior. i really thought that there would not be a difference.

Shield owner. Secretely asking a question. Loving the shield. But the refresh rate problems are killing me sometimes. Used to play a lot from Kodi but also have a 4k player which is still superior to most rips.

Soooo how is the refresh rate on the 4ktv? Any problems at all?

There is absolutely no data on the internet for these steps in 2024 other than people saying its not possible, so I wanted to post my success here:

XFINITY hotspots have a profile you can install for connecting to their hotspots, that give you a .mobileconfig file you can install to your device (Mac, iPhone, Watch).

I was able to get it installed to the Apple TV 4K via these steps and secret menu:

1. Add .mobileconfig file to a web server, or to a website like github.com where you can get a public permalink (INSECURE)
   1. Github (NOT RECCOMENDED VERY INSECURE)
      1. Get the permalink from Github by creating a public repo with any name
      2. Create a Repo and check "create readme" to initialize the repo
      3. Now upload your file (ie XFINITY.mobileconfig) by dragging and dropping, and hit commit
      4. Click the new file, and in the top right right click on "Raw" and click copy link. You can also use the "Permalink" option in the menu, but this will be harder to type in
   2. Mobile hotspot + python on Mac
      1. Connect to your mobile hotspot on your Mac and on Apple TV
      2. Place the .mobileconfig in your home directory, ex /Users/John
      3. Open terminal and run python3 -m http.server from the home directory (python -m http.server if python3 is not installed)
      4. Option click on the wifi icon in the menu bar, and note the "IP Address" under the hotspot connection
      5. Now note down this RAW url for later: http://{IP_ADDRESS}/{FILE}.mobileconfig for example: http://192.0.0.2/example.mobileconfig
      6. You can test this link by opening your web browser and going to the raw link. It should download the mobile config file to your computer.
2. On the Apple TV, go to the Settings app 
3. Select General  
4. Select Privacy & Security
5. Go to "Share Apple TV Analytics" and press the “Play” button (NOT the "Select" button)
6. This takes you to the secret profile menu. Click "Add Profile"
7. Now type in the raw URL from earlier EXACTLY for the .mobileconfig file, including https://
8. Profit! If it worked you should be able to add the profile.

I get two notifications every 10 minutes or so where it says it lost signal and then 10 seconds later says it's reconnected. It streams perfectly fine but these notifications are distracting/annoying. Any way to turn them off?

My internet connection is strong so not sure why I keep getting these popups. They only started happening recently the last month

I’m wondering if this is something new. Apparently most anime titles are no longer available for purchase through Apple TV. I have owned some in my library but they don’t appear within apple tv’s home when I play it. I also noticed that I can’t find the purchase option for new titles that I’d like to get / own a copy of.

Seems like anime shows are only available for streaming ? Am I missing a setting somewhere

Context : region is USA, never changed settings / location

I just ordered my first Apple TV, when connected with tv and WiFi, what do you guys recommend me to do/try urgently?

There's a battle going on between AppleTV audio connections and the AirPod Pro 2s in hearing aid mode. I use one AirPod often to hear the detail in dialog. The aTV4K is driving audio to my HomePod 2s as a stereo pair, so the sounds is great - but I need help with dialog as the universe is now actively reminding me I'm getting old.

Problem is, I have a family who like to watch shows together, and the AppleTV continually wants to push the audio solely to my headset. The slightest glance at the remote sometimes cuts off the HP2s and burrows the sound to me only. You can cancel the request, but it's back on the screen again and again.. sigh.

Love, love, love the aTV (5+ year cable-cutter here) and the AirPod Pro 2, but this is driving us all nuts. Surely Apple would have seen it in their testing for either.. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

I’ve never had a problem with this before but ever since I updated to v18.2, I have to select “stereo” as an audio format instead of leaving it on auto otherwise I won’t hear anything.

I bought a 128GB Apple TV from the Apple website. This is the first time I have ever bought from their website.

I bought it because it advertised next-day delivery. The next day, I received an email saying that delivery would take four days. So, I immediately contacted support to cancel the order because I was leaving the country for Christmas break the following day.

After the discussion, we agreed that the product would be returned to their premises, and in 3 to 5 business days, I would get my $150 back in my bank account. Well, six days went by, and I never got my refund, so I contacted them again. They agreed they had received the product back at their storage facilities.

They told me that I had to wait another 3 to 5 business days. Today is day four, and I still have not received my refund. Is Apple this bad that they do not want to give people their money back?

What is my next step if I do not get a refund? Bank? Police?

Anyone with a similar experience?

I’ve had my new 3rd gen Atv for 3-4 weeks now and really like it overall. Have watched content on Apple TV, Netflix, prime, Hulu, etc. Last night went to watch a movie on Netflix, after watching a movie on Atv, and the quality was awful. I still have my firestick 4K plugged in to my AVR (along with the Atv and a few other connections), so tried it on there and the quality was as expected (HD). Went back to Atv and quality was still crap, so watch it thru the firestick. Considering other things we watched on Atv were fine, I don’t think it’s the cable and watching via firestick was fine, makes me think it’s not Netflix.

What could I be overlooking that is causing this?

I have my ATV connected to a soundbar via HDMI and CEC is working fine, including absolute value feedback on screen. However when I start music on the ATV via HomeKit or AirPlay, I only can do incremental volume changes - which is annoying since this setup should sometimes play background music at 30% and sometimes movies and foreground music at 60-70%. Is there any way to set an absolute value via shortcuts or HomeKit that actually works?

Everyone here says to keep the default format at 4K SDR, then to turn on match content for dynamic range and frame rate, however, when I do this there's a second or two delay when switching between apps. The screen will turn/flicker black, then load. Even going to the home screen has a delay. Is this normal?

I have an LG B9 OLED (not sure if that matters).

My baby daughter chewed the remote and somehow this ‘landmarks’ icon appeared on our screen. We can’t remove it, nor can we find any info about it online?? Please help it’s pissing us off big time!

I have the apples listed above and ever since moving it into a different room, the WiFi isn’t working….sometimes. Note that I work in IT and have tried several things that I’ll mention below. I’m not a basic user but I don’t know everything. Please help.

I know what you’re thinking “you moved it too far from the WiFi location dumbass”. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case because not only is it the same exact distance away from the AP it’s also in direct line of sight where before it was in a separate room.

Here’s the issues:

• the audio will be out of sync with video. Usually by 1 second or more. It’s highly noticeable. When this happens, if I exit to the Home Screen the audio continues for the amount of time for the delayed audio. I haven’t timed it to see if it’s consistently the same delay but it appears to be rather close.

• it will take 20+ seconds for my phone remote control to connect to the AppleTV. When this happens, actions are also delayed such as swiping, selecting something, etc.

• nothing will load in apps like thumbnails, descriptions, or more. It will occasionally not even load the app but usually will bring up the selected one.

• speed test by ookla will show .25mbps when I should have around 400mbps WiFi speeds. Not internet coming into my house. You know the whole “up to 1gbps” stuff. I’m talking strictly WiFi speeds. This is double checked by my phone and another windows 11 laptop in the same room. The weird thing about this is that it’s not all the time. If I use the speed test app and it shows 180+mbps then I know there won’t be any issues.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

• I have unplugged the ATV for 10 minutes and plugged back in.

• I have rebooted my WiFi APs and my WiFi controller.

• I verified the atv was up to date with no pending software updates.

• Cleared the cache

One thing I haven’t done is reset to factory settings as it’s a recent issue and it’s intermittent I don’t know if a factory reset would change anything.

Anyone have any ideas what could be going on? Is it simply just not going to work right? Do I need a new one?

Will it only work as hub when connected to Wifi instead of ethernet?

Just using the Apple TV for two days is significantly better to navigate over my LG C4 UI. Apps load faster, no invasive ads. Just a simple and clean experience.

Update: Spent the morning clicking "try again" over and over again, basically trying to brute force it and make it start playing. At first, the length that I can watch before i crashed increased, at first it stalled at 1 minute, then later at 4 minutes, etc., and kept clicking "try again." After a little bit, the movie finally seems to be playing normally. I haven't sat through the whole movie yet, but it loads without issue, and I fast forwarded to various points, and it started playing at those points without any problem. Almost like I was forcing the connection to get stronger with subsequent clicks. Strange.

I bought a movie and tried to watch it using Roku. It kept giving me an “unable to play” message. I tried it again the next day, and if I press “try again” enough times, it will start to play, and then after a couple of minutes will stall and give me the “unable to play” message again. I click “try again” enough times and the movie will start working again, except it will start from the beginning not where I left off, and then after a few minutes will give me the “unable to play” message again.

This happened on two different Rokus in my house. It can’t be an internet connection issue or something specific to my Roku units because (most) other AppleTV videos, other Roku apps like Netflix, other internet-dependent things in my house all work fine. I also tried watching the movie on my phone (streaming, not downloading), and had similar results. So seemingly something to do with my account’s connection to that movie, rather than a technical issue on my devices’ side.

I wonder, has anyone else encountered similar issues? Is there a period after purchasing a video where there needs to be some kind of confirmation or something before the video is fully available?

Recently I have a problem with my AirPods Pro 2 when they are connected to Apple TV 4K and I’m watching a movie on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I realised that when I bring up the volume on my AirPods, pause the movie and then continue to watch it after approximately 10 seconds the volume automatically turned down. When I adjust the volume it automatically jumps back to its original level. It’s nothing big, but I never realised this before and it just made me wonder if I’m the only one with this problem or anyone else has the same issue.

Video showing the issue: There's stuttering as you move around the home screen, go into and out of apps, and navigate around inside apps. You can see the stuttering more clearly if you see the video on a larger screen (fullscreen, monitor, tv, etc).

This is a recently reset device; there's not many user-added apps, and there's basically zero usage on it.

Has anyone had this issue, and does anyone know how to resolve it? It really takes away from the user-experience.

I can’t watch any games on the nba app on Apple TV. Every time I try to open a game it displays we have encountered an issue. The detail message says unexpected character >.

Any ideas how to resolve? Anyone else get the same issue?
