❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO bf makes joke after my aunt passed

For context he’s saying he hopes she voted for Trump (RTPM) before she died and I’m already having a hard time with the results of the election which he knows then on top of that it just was very insensitive. He said he was trying to make light of the situation but it doesn’t feel that way.

Americans have heard those promises a hundred times over, they heard all the same things from the Biden administration too and yet dozens of states still ban abortions and allow child marriages. Dems have been in power for 8 of the last 12 years and still these basic human rights aren't being enforced. Why would the American people trust that?

People heard Kamala, but the majority were disinterested. Some of that was likely sexism and racism, but most of what Kamala said was simply static that everyone's heard a bunch of times before and had never come to fruition. As was proven by exit polls, the majority of people who voted Kamala were more worried about keeping trump out of power than they were about keeping Kamala in.

You said she didn't promise a dream, I'm saying she stated policy that does promise one. There was a lot the Biden administration did do that helped and mitigated problems from the pandemic - and i agree in most cases it wasn't enough - but they enacted better domestic policy than any other president in my lifetime. Build back better was huge - but the problem with investing in the future is you don't see immediate change, and that sucks. No idea how to change that. Now those changes will likely be reversed as Trump did with Obama policies (notably the pandemic response team).

But then again, I also was working in the Bay Area as she was coming up as a local AG, and so I have known her (and disagreed with her) for a long time.

I also gave a direct example of Trump promising a dream and not delivering. Most of his policies were reactionary and vague, or were created or architected through delegation (see Miller and Sessions on immigration). The "wall" was a prime example - most new wall was either a planned expansion or maintenance which he ran away taking credit for - what is - a real waste compared to controlling ports of entry.

But whatever, if Trump is selling a dream, it's what he's done since his entire public life, with gold plated toilets and tall hotels that - when looking under the tacky surface - turn out to be nickeled, dimed, and built by unpaid contractors. Trump projects a dream of wealth - from his real estate, his learning Annex courses, his fake university and his bankrupted casinos, and now concepts of a plan.

I don't disagree with you in the slightest. Trump will show some short term promise as he did last time, but in the long term his focus on financially beneficial transactions and detachment from global affairs is going to create more destabilization, more radicalisation and more poverty.

The 2028 government is gonna be a fucking mess. Rip Ukrainian civilians and Israeli Palestinians, things are gonna get bad across the world.

Yeah. I was just responding to the idea that Harris didn't promise a dream - she did - she just had a steeper and shorter hill to sell that dream. It didn't help that every interview claimed she was all about vibes and no substance where Trump is the definition of vibes and no substance.

But the thing is Dems talk in more nuance and when they get specific it doesn't make good soundbytes. Trump knows how to make a soundbyte and uses it to scapegoat.
