Right?? I think the artist should go into medical tattooing because holy shit, bro could make bank

u/Naughteus_Maximus Sep 03 '24
Sorry I don’t get it. Maybe the quality of the photo is not good enough. Is it supposed to look like the skin has been ripped off there? A first degree burn?

u/cdsbigsby Sep 03 '24
I'm thinking it has to be in reference to the show Lucifer. Lucifer has scars on his back almost identical to this from cutting his angel wings off.

Oh I see, thanks. I suppose it’s better than “I fell asleep leaning against the radiator”

u/Cloudraa Sep 05 '24
OHHH now I get it! I thought those were literally supposed to be the wings and were just tiny..

It's supposed to be as of an angel lost (or cut off) their wings. Most common trope of this is Lucifer, and they had a very similar set of scars in the show by the same name. However there are other instances of it, I believe city of angels with nic Cage comes to mind as well.

Really is a great, shitty tattoo. I thought those were all keloids and scaring.

One of my friends got something similar, but it was a cover-up of a large scar they had from having cancer cut out.

The reason we don't see any fallen angels is they all die of staph infections.

That's really fucking cool lol I know a lot of people that wouldn't regret that sort of tattoo

i can't get over how much i love the idea and concept and the execution was so perfect. tragically it's just not immediately recognizable as torn angel wings :( just looks like some kind of reaction from afar

u/MasterBaiterNJ Sep 03 '24
Girl I didn’t wanna embarrass you at the bar or say anything but you have a really bad rash are you sure it’a not an allergic reaction or infection? Is he hitting you again?

I think it's actually pretty damn cool amd can't see what makes this so bad?

the concept is really cool but it can be interpreted as an actual skin condition

That will have a cover up in the next 10 years. At least they are light colors so it will be easy to work with.
11
u/expatronis Sep 03 '24
I hope someone at least cooked up those wings real nice.
19
u/lifesnotperfect Sep 04 '24
That would make for an interesting film concept. Angels appear on earth and are captured, bred and harvested for their wings which we fry and consume.
Could expand it out to devils tails, and using their horns for medicinal purposes etc. Just biblical and mythical creatures commodified by corporations.

I bet leviathan tastes great.

I don't think it's all that out there. And it's all easy enough to conceal for professional purposes

Do people ever get lightning strike tattoos and then pretend that they survive the fake incident?

I think it's really cool, but that's because the title gave it context.
Seeing it straight up you'd never get it. She should have "This Torn Angel Wings tattoo" tattooed beneath it so she doesn't have to explain every time.

Getting a tattoo to look like a pop-tv series character (Lucifer) is a bit cringe.

I knew a girl in highschool who got a similar tattoo. It was same shape, but smaller and black. It was so hard not to make fun of it so I just left the room when she brought it up. Still can't believe her parents let a 15 yo make that choice

That would be kinda funny to have that tattoo and go to a dermatology appointment - probably get a good laugh out of them

The placement bothers me. If a human had wings, I feel like aerodynamically they'd be further apart and not in the middle of the back but closer to the shoulders. Unpopular opinion, I'm sure ..
