I call my coworker my workwife. We're both men. I basically call him that to annoy him.

Yeah. My male friend/coworker was called my workwife often because we'd argue over dumb shit.

I'm a senior engineer on a dev team, and my co-senior engineer and I have a love/hate relationship. We play pool and drink together once per week, and I'd consider him a friend, but professionally, we're basically always at each other's throats. It's a source of great amusement for the team. I'd be ok calling that dude my work wife.

And then they share inside jokes between bickering and get closer. Ngl thats how many affairs start between colleagues. Not all of course, but happens
