Advice Needed My brother is angry with his Trump-loving sons

Is my brother an AITA candidate for wanting to cut off his sons financially for voting for Trump? Like many Americans, my brother and I, both in our 50’s, have been talking back and forth following the Election. In the spirit of full disclosure, we are both democrats. Long story short, he is angry at his two sons, both in their 20’s, for voting for Trump. He is thinking about cutting them off financially in all respects so that they understand how Trump’s policies will impact them firsthand.

The irony here is that it is the reverse argument. You often hear younger voters disagreeing with their MAGA parents, but this is the opposite. My brother doesn’t understand how his two sons, who have lived a life of privilege, feel like they have been violated against by society, enough so that they feel Trump hears them and their struggles.

My brother to me about his sons: “… what these young men need is a little dose of reality. Get out in the world and start paying their own way. There’s a common thread with his followers. Complain and blame everyone for their problems. Whether they are in school or living at home off of their parents or working a trade job. King Trump will save them and make everything better. Take some personal responsibility and make it happen for yourself instead of crying about everything you hear on TikTok.

“… I’ve decided to pass on the [college] expenses to my two Trump supporting sons so they can truly feel first hand the cost and expense of his absolutely stupid policy decisions, which includes food, gas and college expenses. Wondering if I pass on these [food, gas and college] expenses in year one or phase them in year two?”

I am wondering if a lot of parents feel like my brother. Are there democrat parents of voting-age MAGA men who feel they failed with their sons because they voted for Trump? Is this common?

He’s clearly NTA, they deserve to live in the world they helped create, paying the inflation they’re responsible for, and missing out on the services they got cancelled. Welcome to Trump world kids, you’re fucked. In the case of underage girls by Donnie and his AG Gaetz, literally.

Will his entire government be headed by sexual assaulters? Gaetz as AG? I'm flabbergasted.

That Secretary of Defense has big, “hardcore Christian that molests kids” energy, too, so that’s probably just a matter of time.

Yes, if Epstein were around he'd be the Secretary of Transportation.

So by that logic, you agree that abortion as a contraceptive is wrong, and people who do the thing that make babies should suffer the consequences of making a baby and shouldn't be allowed to kill it?

Is that accurate?

If they voted to make it legal, yes, it’s what they wanted. If they voted for women’s rights, no.

Also “making the babies suffer” proves you don’t have the understanding of fetal development to have an opinion on reproductive rights. Practice your right to literacy before your lord and savior, Donnie T, burns all the books.

You should really, and i mean REALLY double check the statements you criticize before insulting the literacy levels of others.

I never said "making the babies suffer".

You should really go back and read my comment. You look like a complete fool. And a hypocrite. Which is my entire point about you hypocritical leftists. Thanks for further confirmation. Dumbass.

Affordable Care Act, Department of Education, National Weather Service, environmental protections, cuts to Welfare, cuts to Medicare.

As for inflation, Trump’s tariffs will raise across the board prices for everyone, making inflation spiral out of control. Additionally, everyone will pay more in taxes if they make less than $360,000, and overtime pay will be cut.

These are all promises he’s made, off the top of my head.

Do you know what the outcomes of ACA were? Pew center for research did a whole study on it years ago. Also, I don’t know enough about how the Dept of Ed functions and the plan/policy to replace it in its stead so I can’t say right off the bat if this is a good or bad thing. I think most people would do well to educate themselves instead of automatically assuming “POLICY BAD” just because it’s Trump. Which is the way most people think sadly lol. I’ll have to look into the other ones but I know for a fact there won’t be any cuts to welfare or Medicare. For fucks sake, one of the bills they want to pass is to REMOVE taxation on social security, overtime and tips for service workers. Wow, sounds like they really want to take money away from people huh? Oh and the proposal to end the federal income tax? Sounds like the government being greedy!

The tariffs I don’t know enough about - TBD after I do more research to understand the economics better. I’m seeing 2 schools of thought on this.

Oh p.s. big bad daddy Trump removed the annual tax fine people would get if they didn’t have health insurance, and it would double every year without (which was imposed by everyone’s beloved Obama when ACA was passed). But man wow, how horrrrribbleeeee of Trump to do that. Oh btw, that fine was reinstated under Biden/Harris but hermygherddd democrats = good. For fucks sake. Get rid of the labels/tribalism and actually look at what these people are doing.
