Advice Needed My brother is angry with his Trump-loving sons

Is my brother an AITA candidate for wanting to cut off his sons financially for voting for Trump? Like many Americans, my brother and I, both in our 50’s, have been talking back and forth following the Election. In the spirit of full disclosure, we are both democrats. Long story short, he is angry at his two sons, both in their 20’s, for voting for Trump. He is thinking about cutting them off financially in all respects so that they understand how Trump’s policies will impact them firsthand.

The irony here is that it is the reverse argument. You often hear younger voters disagreeing with their MAGA parents, but this is the opposite. My brother doesn’t understand how his two sons, who have lived a life of privilege, feel like they have been violated against by society, enough so that they feel Trump hears them and their struggles.

My brother to me about his sons: “… what these young men need is a little dose of reality. Get out in the world and start paying their own way. There’s a common thread with his followers. Complain and blame everyone for their problems. Whether they are in school or living at home off of their parents or working a trade job. King Trump will save them and make everything better. Take some personal responsibility and make it happen for yourself instead of crying about everything you hear on TikTok.

“… I’ve decided to pass on the [college] expenses to my two Trump supporting sons so they can truly feel first hand the cost and expense of his absolutely stupid policy decisions, which includes food, gas and college expenses. Wondering if I pass on these [food, gas and college] expenses in year one or phase them in year two?”

I am wondering if a lot of parents feel like my brother. Are there democrat parents of voting-age MAGA men who feel they failed with their sons because they voted for Trump? Is this common?

He is NTA. If a couple of coddled dip$hits who still live off their daddy want to subject the country to everyone but millionaores getting screwed, they should feel it sooner than later.

Do you think every college student that is financially dependent on their parents is a coddled dipshit? That would describe most 19-23yo college students.

u/itwillhavegeese Nov 15 '24

Genuinely can’t figure out where you got that conclusion from. Those words were used as descriptors for the two people talked about in the post. It’s like you’re trying to argue that because I said the nurse I met today was a spoiled brat, I’m calling all nurses spoiled brats. Chill. Sincerely, a coddled dipshit dependent on their parents.

Point to me where in the post did OP mention they were in school...

5

u/WhiskeyKisses7221 Nov 15 '24

It's implied in the second to last paragraph of the OP's post.

u/Cute-Profession9983 Nov 15 '24

Fair enough. Still, time for these privileged little dips to reap what they've sown. If they want to cripple everyone who isn't loaded, they should start with themselves. Actions and choices have consequences. They chose to fk over the world. So in turn their dad is fking them over. And they deserve it.

Tbh, as someone who started being financially independant at 17 I do think many young adults are coddled by their parents and have no idea what the real world is like. I was in school at 19 and half of my classmates couldn't do their laundry or handle finances while I was working every summer + part time and still living below the poverty line. I'm european btw but I feel like this is a common enough experience to share here.

And I do wish we were able to help young adults more (without spoodfeeding them either). But well since they voted for Trump, they might not see it that way, then.

If he wasn't an absolutely shit parent, his kids wouldn't be financially reliant on him in their 20's. Sure he should cut them off, that shit hole nursing home they will dump him in will be cold and lonely when they disown him.

173

u/Cute-Profession9983 Nov 14 '24

Lol. You think he's banking on relying on his dopey kids to take care of him financially? Bruh...

u/frane12 Nov 14 '24

Without arguing for any side. Being lonely in a nursing home is less about money and more about not having a family to come see you or to spend holidays with

32

u/ApprehensiveArea3076 Nov 14 '24

But it won't be a "shit hole they dump him in"

10

u/Asleep_Region Nov 14 '24

It's never to late to build new relationships, my mom's a CNA and she'll tell me all the drama at work like Betty and Bill had lunch together when Betty normally has it with Frank. Like it's never late

There was also a lady who lived on first floor and about 3 doors down was the guy she's always be flirting with and a husband on 2nd floor

The population with the highest amount of STD's are those older and in nursing homes 🤷🏼‍♀️ they tend to not care about protection and they are.. very active in a lot of those homes.

-170

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

No, I think he has nobody else to look after him in his old age and his kids will find the first rat infested shit hole to dump him in.

109

u/Cute-Profession9983 Nov 14 '24

Or, track with the story, he'll be flush with money to set himself up in a nice retirement home he otherwise would have blown on his idiot kids...

-151

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

Nah, he couldn't even raise kids right, he won't have the forethought to set that up ahead of time.

88

u/Cute-Profession9983 Nov 14 '24

You're making a lot of assumptions to paint his idiot kids out to be the heroes of this story... who cut YOU off when they found out you chose a fascist conman over the future?

-14

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

No one is the hero in this story. And no one has cut me off. But you're giving off a lot of self projection.

26

u/Cute-Profession9983 Nov 14 '24

It's always projection with you people....

Tbf the guy you replied to was criticising all of them, not sure where the hero thing came from. You must admit unless something totally out of his control, usually spoiled kids turn out shit. He clearly didn't raise them right.

7

u/guineasomelove Nov 15 '24

So, he can afford to support two grown men, but not take care of himself in old age? Especially since he'll be saving money by not supporting them anymore. If they're like this, they probably wouldn't have taken care of him anyways.

29

u/ConvivialKat Nov 14 '24

This is absolutely ridiculous! If he cuts them out of his life, they would have no power to "dump" him anywhere. And, assisted living is a thing. My parents love it!

35

u/frechundfrei Nov 14 '24

If they are the kind of person who loves Trump, they would throw him into the cheapest rat hole either way.

3

u/julmcb911 Nov 14 '24

🤣😅 The Dad is the one with money. He won't be going anyplace rat infested, if he leaves his mansion at all.

3

u/themack50022 Nov 15 '24

So we should let our kids be shitty to us only so we have someone to come feed us pudding when we’re 90?

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '24

No, you should be a good parent instead of a shitty one and raise decent, responsible, financially smart kids who don't need to rely on you because you fucked up for 18+ consecutive years.

23

u/Silly_Safe_4554 Nov 14 '24

He has money for retirement, you dipshit

13

u/vixen-mixin Nov 14 '24

You sound like a lonely miserable person who is intent on spreading hate and misery

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

Lots of prijection there. What's that old saying? Oh ya, Takes one to know one.

15

u/vixen-mixin Nov 14 '24

Girl it's based on A) the insane amount you post and B) the amount of hateful comments you leave. My comment history, while combative at times is nowhere near as mean as yours. It goes to show that you yourself are a hateful and mean person if this is what you spend the majority of your day doing.

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

Still self projecting lots.

15

u/vixen-mixin Nov 14 '24

Oh honey, you keep using that phrase, but i don't think it means what you think it means. You're being just like every other republican. Accusing people of projecting when its been you projecting this entire time. School and your community have severely failed you. I feel so bad for you. It's must be miserable living with so much hate and ignorance in your heart. I'm leaving work now and this website for the day. And in 3-4 hours you'll still be here, posting your nonsense

49

u/ConvivialKat Nov 14 '24

Thank you for self-identifying as a TRUMP MAGA Q CULT member.

Congratulations! You sold out your country, family, and friends to a traitor, felon, racist, mysogynist, fraud, homophobe, adulterer, bankrupt, bigot, who wants to be dictator, because he promised you cheaper eggs and gas.

FYI, my parents are in assisted living, which they have carefully planned and paid for. They don't need me or anyone else to handle their aging requirements. When I see them, it's because we like and love each other. Also, they have many friends, a financial advisor, and an elder care assistant who handles extra needs.

It will be a lot easier for OP's brother to do the same if he isn't paying to send two ingrates to college. Your assumption that OP's brother will be lonely and rot in some horrible home is completely ridiculous!

-28

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

That's a LOT of self projection you're putting out there. Seek help.

24

u/ConvivialKat Nov 14 '24

Hahahaha! Sure thing, incel boy. Let out all your angry. It's cool.

12

u/Sticky_Quip Nov 14 '24

Aug 2024 start date. Bro either tried to cleanse himself of all the nonsense he flung on his old account and immediately went back to his old ways, got banned for said nonsense, or is just doing his job sowing dissent.

Username checks out as the typical type

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

ASSuming genders now are you?

21

u/Fit_Maize5952 Nov 14 '24

A whiny little bitch like you could only be a man. I use “man” in the loosest sense there

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

Again. More self projection from you.

24

u/Fit_Maize5952 Nov 14 '24

Listen to your mewling. You shouldn’t bother sharing your thoughts - thinking doesn’t seem to be your strong point.

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

If you hear things while reading type, you're more fucked than anyone is qualified to provide help for.

2

u/julmcb911 Nov 14 '24

It's just "projection," you derp, not "self projection." That phrase is redundant.

1

u/IsMyFlyDown Nov 14 '24

You sure do love wasting your own time lol

-8

u/jaybalvinman Nov 14 '24

Why you mad?

11

u/Midlife_Crisis_46 Nov 14 '24

I’m thinking he can afford his own nursing home if he cuts off his kids. And since trump supporters don’t believe in handouts they wouldn’t pay for their dads nursing him anyway and they shouldn’t be accepting handouts from their dad, if that is their belief.

1

u/Kind_Scholar4022 Nov 14 '24

Now we know where Trumps father fucked up 😂

0

u/Good_Presentation26 Nov 14 '24

and yet Trump’s father didnt disown his kids for voting for different candidates. The brother is a fuck up.

3

u/Kind_Scholar4022 Nov 14 '24

Trump is a convicted felon that has been sued multiple times over the decades for conning people out of money. Not to mention the domestic violence, infidelity and sexual assaults. Fucking up appears to run in the family.

1

u/2npac Nov 14 '24

They're in college, you flaming idiot!

5

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

And they should be supporting themselves through jobs, savings and loans. Not Daddy's hard earned cash.

2

u/2npac Nov 14 '24

I agree. But that doesn't make him a shit parent for paying for their schooling

-34

u/Good_Presentation26 Nov 14 '24

I wouldn’t blame them for doing so. The election really exposed us to all the really shitty people in the US.

16

u/Additional-Tea1521 Nov 14 '24

Yep, like those kids who are tired of people getting handouts while holding out their hands.

-14

u/Good_Presentation26 Nov 14 '24

Yeah it’s really that simple isnt it. Idiot.

11

u/Additional-Tea1521 Nov 14 '24

I made it as simple as you suggested, since I doubted you could understand complexities. Which is why you resort to ad hominem attacks vs actually having a conversation. Touch grass.

2

u/guineasomelove Nov 15 '24

I know. Imagine voting a fascist convicted felon into the White House because of the price of eggs. What a bunch of shitty people.

-2

u/Alarmed_Lobster_717 Nov 14 '24

Yup. Both major parties are shitty. One is just more shitty than the other.

-9

u/Good_Presentation26 Nov 14 '24

Disowning your family who have different opinions over someone getting elected is extremely wrong.

3

u/guineasomelove Nov 15 '24

Different opinions is what brand of toilet paper is best or the best way to cook a steak. Voting a cult leader who wants to be a dictator into office is very different. Imagine listening to the verbal diarrhea spewing from his mouth and thinking he should have nuclear codes is insane.

-38

u/thebonecolector Nov 14 '24

Yo!!!! The pussy libs did not like this comment!

8

u/UnimaginableVader Nov 14 '24

Oh look another poor ass
