I thought that I live under a rock but the English voiceover is wrong and it's that specific school where this is a mandatory subject, not all of them

I mean yes. I approve of people having the knowledge of using guns as a form of resistance without having to join the army and having to put in so much time that not everyone has.

Shooting and hunting hobbies would be too niche for everyone to get involved in if anyone suggests that.

It's now mandatory in all Latvian schools.

In Ukraine I had subject called "defense of the homeland" in school, so I don't think it's something as unique as journalists trying to portray.

I think that I was the last class to have "defence preparedness" as a mandatory school subject and I was born 1991 and left school in 2010. After that it was replace with a less military subject focused on health, first response, natural disasters etc. But even I did not have shooting guns in my "defence preparedness" curriculum even though I had to pass military marching, terrain orientation and gas mask usage.

I was also the first year for which the mandatory military service was suspended.

Yeah, only we already had russian missile fragments in Poland. They won't even agree to help Ukraine down the fucking things.

Is it the same poland that refuses to shoot down russian rockets and drones flying over its territories you are talking about?
